2012 Poster Cruise....

Re: 2012 Poster Cruise....

What time frame will you be looking for people to commit by?

I'm in, but how am I to know who my boyfriend will be (and thus will be dragged on the cruise with me) in April 2012?

Good question, and I'm thinking that the agency will allow a pretty big window. So I'm thinking starting in April 2011, and knowing for sure by the begining of the '11-'12 season.

But I'll know more after I get back with the two agencies. They mentioned blocking some cabins, of all types (interior, exterior, and balcony), so we will see.

Still, I think if you can commit by October 2011, that would be cool.

No rush.

I know a lot can change between now and then- jobs, families, etc. The only reason I'm doing this so early so that people with tight budgets and schedules have the ability to plan and save for it.

Re: 2012 Poster Cruise....

So are we going to assume that we will not be at war with Mexico in 2 years?

While I do know this is a joke, it does bring up one thing- all the cruise lines do reserve the right to alter the actual cruise based on conditions- political, safety, weather- whatever. So IF Cozumel gets hammered (again) by a hurricane, and it's not back up and running- it will just be a different port.

There are enough ports that they will be flexible.

If MSU's hockey program continues to spiral into oblivion and the program is scrapped before 2012, will we still be welcomed on the trip? :o

Id like to do this. A co-worker of mine just did this last month and loved it. However, school loans kick in shortly...and other variables...so Im going to consider it and see where I am in a year to 16 months from now. If I go, Im getting outside room I think. Interior is where the poor people go who drown with the Titanic it seems. At least with the outside I have a chance at being hit directly by a rouge wave :p

Phew... Oct 2011 is about when I'll know if we can do this. Right now we have our hands full with some other important stuff, so while I am keeping this in the back of my mind, I can't commit to anything.

Let's put it this way, I'm in the middle, and my husband is closer to Social Security age than college graduation.

Like the posters game, all ages.

I've been out of school for 20 years, and I know my parents will be joining us on this cruise.

Remember, this is a great vacation for people you may not be sure they want to spend all the time together.... Nobody HAS to party if they don't want to, just as nobody HAS to sleep.

And RCCL does have special programs for kids.

Re: 2012 Poster Cruise....

Balcony room for me! That way when I wake up at 6 am, I can go sit in my pajamas and read on the balcony/see dolphins swimming along side the boat.

If all else fails you can just bring me.

As long as you agree to do whatever I want! :p

Actually, it's more like what I want 80% of the time. I don't have to have my way all the time.

Re: 2012 Poster Cruise....

The last time I had a balcony at a Frozen Four (2007 St. Louis Crowne Plaza) I had the wind whip $80 out of my pocket and I watched it blow majestically towards the arch. I was a starving college student back then and that was most of my bar money. Perhaps it would still be more safe to get an inside cabin.

There are cabins with windows.

Should help you who are so challenged with holding small things.:D

(if anyone cares- here's the ship The Jewel of the Seas)

I dont want to hijack the thread, but it really was the strangest thing! I walked out on to the balcony on like the 25th floor, not realizing how windy it was outside. I put my hands up in the air to stretch and the next thing I knew there were 20's blowing away!!

I'll be sure to stick with plastic this time around.;)

what- showing off to the hotties in the hotel next door? "yea- look at me stretch, with a fist full of $20s!!"

Yea, I guess that goes with being a sparty... ;)

[/hijack] we should note that the cruise does not use money, but your room card- it's your ID and your money. So don't do the early morning stretch with you room card in your hand.

Re: 2012 Poster Cruise....

I'm thinking I want a balcony, so I can have relations with some random lucky lady on it.

edit: or 5
