Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

Too many Western teams in......someone (Maine or BU) is flying West.

BU goes West. They don't bring any fans anyway so it doesn't matter. Also, they are not playing as well as any of the teams in the discussion (Maine, Western Michigan, etc)

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

Worcester
1 BC 15 MSU
7 UMD 10 Maine

St. Paul
2 Michigan 16 Air Force
8 UM 9 BU

Bridgeport
3 Union 14 WMU
6 Ferris State 11 DU

Green Bay
4 UND 13 Cornell
5 Miami 12 Mass-Lowell

Would it be hypothetically possible for the committee to take Merimack over msu that way the #1 overall see still gets the #16 AD? sparty and Merimack are tied at 15 (along with Northern Michigan) and Merimack holds the comparison with sparty. That would help keep the integity of the bracket.

I don't see that as a huge jump.

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

Maine is going to go to Worcester. Attendance will bring them there and put BU in Bridgeport.

Maine or BU would be good for the gate in Worcester.

BU would draw better than Maine in Bridgeport, with the Terriers large alumni base in greater NYC.

Good idea. Except that if you actually look at the details of the comparisons, MSU loses its compare to Merrimack because Merrimack played BC 3 games, and managed to eek out one tie. That's nothing, really. MSU deserves to be in. And, we don't really want to go back to subjective choices of who is in - too much possibility of back room deals.

God I hope they aren't selecting teams based on which team helps them with bracket integrity the most. A lot of people would freak out.

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

I think you'll see a good fan base from Lowell in either eastern regional. Plus I don't want to go west, therefore Lowell stays east. Sound logic.

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

CRY FOR HELP FROM EASTERN FANS!!!

Since Maine, BU, and Lowell are all #3s, please inform me which 2 are the best attendance draws for Wor and Bridge. The othe one perhaps should be the one to go east, and play Minnesota.

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

Isn't that why they left ambiguity in breaking ties? To HELP make the adjustments while still following a strict ranking for everything else? (Ie: the 2005 and was it 2008 three way ties?)

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

empty seats in Bridgeport with this bracket

And your point is??? You have a regional in Connecticut - there are NO teams in southern New England, New York City, New Jersey (except for Yale - and they're not in it) - what do you expect? Who would you put there that will make a difference? It's an eight hour drive for Maine fans. It's two hours beyond Worcester which means most BU fans won't go. Nobody will come from the West because they'll put their eggs and money in the Frozen Four basket. When you hold a regional where there is only ONE local school with a chance to get in...too bad. I can think of about five places better suited to have this (Providence, Manchester, Lake Placid, Albany, Buffalo). Morons...

Maine then BU easily for attendance.

Worcester:

1. Maine
2. Lowell
3. BU

Bridgeport:

1. Maine
2. Lowell
3. BU

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

So far the CHN projection makes the most sense to me. It's the best from an attendance perspective which at the end of the day is what is driving the train. Worcester and St. Paul would be sell outs. Bridgeport is light but not like some of the other crazy *** ideas floating around. Big Blue anchors GB. Waiting to see what Moy thinks.

CHN projection:

Northeast Region, Worcester: 1. Boston College vs. 16. Air Force / 7. Minnesota-Duluth vs. 10. Maine
Midwest Region, Green Bay: 2. Michigan vs. 13. Cornell / 6. Ferris State vs. 11. Denver
East Region, Bridgeport: 3. Union vs. 15. Michigan State / 5. Miami vs. 12. Massachusetts-Lowell
West Region, St. Paul: 4. North Dakota vs. 14. Western Michigan / 8. Minnesota vs. 9. Boston University

Based on a field of:
1. Boston College
2. Michigan
3. Union
4. North Dakota
5. Miami
6. Ferris State
7. Minnesota-Duluth
8. Minnesota
9. Boston University
10. Maine
11. Denver
12. Massachusetts-Lowell
13. Cornell
14. Western Michigan
15. Michigan State
16. Air Force

Portland to Bridgeport is 4.5 hours.......half of Maine's fans in Boston came from Portland South.

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

i'd be ok with bu getting shipped to bridgeport...

Maine or BU would be good for the gate in Worcester.

BU would draw better than Maine in Bridgeport, with the Terriers large alumni base in greater NYC.

By looking at the PWR and figuring out that Minnesota is the lowest #2 and that they have to play a Hockey East team...they should play #9. That would be BU. The only other option would be sending UML out there, but why should Minnesota get the lowest ranked #3? You guys should be packing your bags for St. Paul.

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

If the past few years taught us anything its that bracket integrity will be maintained and intra-conference first round match-ups will be avoided.

Getting cute worrying about attendance will submarine bracket integrity, so won't be a factor.
