My best guess: Note - the nightmare scenario where Maine comes back and wins is a nightmare because the sites (USCHO, CHN, don't agree on who gets the last spot. It's a tiny difference in the computation of the RPI of NMU and Merrimack that makes the problem. And, the difference in the 4th or 5th decimal place, and turns the compare, so that either MSU or Merrimack might get in.)

The possibility of a BC/BU final in Worcester might draw a good crowd for the weekend, but I think the travelling Maine fans would bring an even larger gate (a potential rematch of tonight's game). Of course I'm a little biased in this opinion as I'll be in Worcester next weekend and I'd love to see Maine!

Having only six eastern teams in the field (and only two of the top eight), most teams will have to be flying to their quarterfinal destinations. On latest PWR seeding, placing Minnesota in St. Paul as a host and avoiding Michigan vs. Michigan State in opening round, a possible field might look like this:
Worcester: 1-BC 15-Michigan State; 7-Minnesota-Duluth 9T-Maine or Boston University
Green Bay: 2-Michigan 16-Air Force; 6-Ferris State 11-Denver
Bridgeport: 3-Union 14-Western Michigan; 5-Miami 12T-UM-Lowell or Cornell
St. Paul: 4-North Dakota 12T-Cornell or UM-Lowell; 8-Minnesota 9T-Boston University or Maine
Consideration might be given to having Maine in Worcester, UM-Lowell in Bridgeport and Cornell in St. Paul, and moving Boston University (8-8 after January 21 and missing three of their better players) to the four seed in Bridgeport against Union and having CCHA champion Western Michigan as a three seed (playing considerably better than BU) against Minnesota in St. Paul to avoid one flight.

I'd agree with you if the gametime wasn't set at 8 pm on a Sunday night by the NCAA numbnuts. BU might be better given their locality to Worcester and the gametime. But I have no idea how willing or unwilling Maine fans would be to come all the way down and basically blow any chance at sleep on a Sunday night before work on Monday morning.

You make a good point regarding the game time and Maine supporters.........and numbnuts is an appropriate way to describe those who scheduled an 8pm game time on a Sunday.
