2012 Minnesota Twins: 99 Problems...

Re: 2012 Minnesota Twins: 99 Problems...

I'm saying it shouldn't matter how well you turn that. If Plouffe doesn't admire his high-hopper right at the third baseman he reaches first safely.

Possibly. I'm saying that you couldn't turn that any better. That's all.

As I said, helluva turn. That was a beautiful sight to see (speaking as a former 2B guy, with some dabbling in SS and 3B).

And speaking as a former 1st baseman, I know the whole way through that turn I'd be like, "C'mon! C'mon! We can get it!" :o

I dabbled there, too, but that position is pretty easy: catch the ball. ;)

For the record, I've played multiple games at every position, but my mainstays were RF and 2B.

Re: 2012 Minnesota Twins: 99 Problems...

So why watch baseball in late August when your team's bad? Partly to see things you haven't seen before. Last night there was the triple play -- I'd never seen one live before, only in highlights. There was Josh Willingham getting picked off -- didn't think I'd ever see that -- does he even take a lead? There was the Oakland hitter slipping so badly out of the box that he ended up getting called out for being out of the base line. And then I saw in the paper today the Twins had zero men left on base. None! Hasn't happened since they were perfect-gamed in 98 by David Wells.

Then there's the weirdness of that empty park in Oakland. Sheesh. I've been to a few games there, and it is a cavern. And it does get cold at night this time of year out there. But still, you expected tumbleweeds to roll through the infield at some point.

Saw that. Did not care for how Wally Bell handled that. Not one bit.

Re: 2012 Minnesota Twins: 99 Problems...

It's like a hockey fight. Doesn't matter if you win or lose.

It matters. He missed and I can guarantee Gardy is ****ed at him for missing. Gardy just has enough sense to keep it in the club house. The pitch should have been hip high not head high. And it shouldn't have missed. I trust our guys will dot someone before the series is over.

Just send a bottle of whiskey to Hamilton every day. Catcher can squirt some on his pants when he's batting so he gets the scent of it too.

Re: 2012 Minnesota Twins: 99 Problems...

The real question is, will the Twins coaching staff be able to turn this guy into a pitch-to-contact pitcher, after they pick him #3 overall next year?

Clinton Hollon

Hollon isn't a big guy like the top high school pitcher this season, Lucas Giolito. He is 6'1 and 190 pounds but has a big arm. He sits in the 92-94 MPH range and can get up to 97. He has good command for his age and stuff. He has a plus breaking ball and good feel for a change. He uses his athleticism to unleash this velocity from an easy delivery and he should be one of the first high school players taken in 2013.

I'd probably try for this. If I can remember.
