2012 Elections Part I: All Politics is Yokel

Re: 2012 Elections Part I: All Politics is Yokel

I admire Bachmann showing true grit in the face of adversity. That was truly the longest day. As long as she doesn't allow this gaffe to cast a giant shadow over her campaign she can show us how the west was won. It's going to be a long campaign, from the Rio Grande and the Alamo north to Alaska and through the Dakotas; to old Oklahoma and up the Oregon Trail - California straight ahead! It's going to be a lonely trail, especially against the man from Utah. She may run into trouble along the way, but she's going to ride tall in the saddle and battle all the way from the sands of Iwo Jima, back to Bataan to the lawless frontier.

When this adventure ends, whether it's somewhere in Sonora or 'Neath the Arizona skies, it will be the greatest story ever told.

Bachmann pulls another one out of Reagan's playbook. Too bad hte result for both is a 5 yard penalty for illegal procedure.

Tom Petty has sent the Minnesota congresswoman a cease-and-desist order after she used his 1977 classic "American Girl" as background music at her kickoff rally Monday in Waterloo, Iowa, a source close to the singer has confirmed.

Katy Perry will be next. Bachmann used her song "Firework" for a rally a week or so ago. Interestingly enough the song is pro gay rights, and Bachmann is not.

Soon she shall be President. Delusion for the win.

You get a 5 yard penalty for mentioning Katy Perry. :p

And honestly, if I was the artist in question, I wouldn't give two ****s who uses my songs as long as I get the royalties.

I continue to believe Bachmann isn't electable - sure, she can get the lockstep R base, but do you really think she can secure enough independents to beat Obama? Even if unemployment stays exactly where it is right now, I'd say that's a coinflip at best.

Reversed. No penalty for mentioning a woman who looks like this:

If the economy is about as good as it is now...or any better...Obama is back in. If its much worse, Bachmann's chances of getting the nomination go down as the GOP look for a safer candidate with economic leadership background. IMO ger road is significantly tougher than say Romney or Perry. I still haven't seen a good poll for her from the south.

I continue to believe Bachmann isn't electable

The Doorstop Theory predicts that anyone who wins a major party nomination has a non-trivial chance of winning the general election, because a third of the electorate would literally vote for an inanimate object with the right letter after it, due to some combination of ignorance, loyalty and spite.

As either Scooby or Rover has pointed out, that puts us one non-zero probability Summer 2012 event (implosion of the global economy, catastrophic natural disaster, ugly terrorist attack) away from having a President Doorstop.

You're only unelectable if you can't win your party nomination. Bachmann is 500x more electable than Huntsman.

Have you heard any of her music? :p

Yeah, and as much as it pains me to say it, it's verbal crack. I want to hate it, yet find myself humming it for the next four hours after hearing half a verse on the radio while driving to work.

By the way, thanks for freaking mentioning her in this thread. Now I have freaking "firework" stuck in my head again. B*stards.

Turn in your man card.

You can thank/blame Scooby for that. I'm sure he'll be thrilled knowing he made someone miserable. :p

Re: 2012 Elections Part I: All Politics is Yokel

Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann said on Wednesday there would be no "mud-wrestling fight" between her and fellow staunch conservative Sarah Palin.

I don't know...I think it's a mistake. Put that sucker on PPV and watch the money roll in...
