Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

The leader of the Republicans? By many measures.

He (Rush) went further the next day, adding, "if we're going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch."

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

Not sure if this has been discussed but...

Iowa, Maine and now Michigan...Romney seems to be getting the benefit of backdoor deals and other 'mistakes'

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

From what little law I studied in college, slander is hard to prove without a vicious case and a sympathetic jury. But you're saying that if she isn't considered a 'public figure' it's easier to win?
She sues in DC Court. Can there be a more sympathetic jury anywhere this side of San Francisco?

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

The Republicans should just nominate Limbaugh for prez. Why go only half-way to ***hole with Romney? Run the real thing, then he and Obama can let everything out on the table in debates without having to fight by proxy.
When the dust clears, we can ship them both to Venezuela and find actual leaders.
Obama is a leader, but thanks for the false equivalence.

By all means, ship Rush and Olbermann somewhere with no broadcast capacity.

de jure. de facto?? It seems now the USA speaks loudly with a big schtick.

I like Russian foreign policy better - screw the symbolism and let's get dirty!! Effective.

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

In other news, the King of Hatred may have finally gone a derp too far.

Citrix and Carbonite have also dropped him to bring the total to six. Message from the CEO of Carbonite:

“No one with daughters the age of Sandra Fluke, and I have two, could possibly abide the insult and abuse heaped upon this courageous and well-intentioned young lady. Mr. Limbaugh, with his highly personal attacks on Miss Fluke, overstepped any reasonable bounds of decency. Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.”

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

Romney completes a two week comeback in the WA polls to win their caucus. Frothy seems to be losing steam everywhere, with the 538 poll summary showing him dropping what had been 15-20 points leads in OH, OK, and TN down to 5-8 point leads. I guess trying to force women back to 1950 and running on the virtue of willful ignorance didn't turn out to be a bright strategy; who'd have thought it?

Well, I'll give you this: Obama was elected to be President of the U.S., true, but I haven't seen any actual "leadership" resulting from the act of voting him in. He's actually a lot like Big Bill Clinton: a wonderful politician, very very sharp at reading trends in popular opinion and positioning himself to benefit from shifts in opinion. Very quick to grab credit for anything from empoyment by private companies (who are otherwise his sworn enemies), to sunny days (while he's on the golf course). So he's a lot of fun, and maybe a lucky guy to keep around. But would any thinking person call him a leader? Of course not. He'll always be a follower, and it'll no doubt continue to serve him well as he goes on to write more books and build up his fortune. He never even would have gotten into this ****ing contest with Limbaugh without focus groups telling him it was safe and would provide a popularity boost.

Four more years! God bless America.
blah.

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.

I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit? In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.

My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.

That's the apology? That doesn't sound like much of an apology to me. What he said about that poor woman was evil and his apology to her should be all about her and not his personal opinion about the political discourse that is going on.

You failed Rush. Try again.

It also might help if he realized that those medications are used for things other than birth control. Well, it probably would't but it would be nice if he was just stupid and not both ignorant and stupid.

The good news is he lost some sponsors. Hopefully he loses a few more.

And that is the ONLY reason for the "apology". When Rush tries to do the right thing, he's talking about, for his bank account.

I don't think anybody argues with this. The Fat Boy is just a con artist making money off a bunch of cretins. If there was more money in selling pork and beans, or, for that matter, being a flaming liberal, he'd be doing that.

The problem has always been the cretins.

Oh, please.

Obama is no FDR, but he's no Clinton, either. There are more ways to lead than doing the "make my day" rooster strut. You utterly loathe what Obama stands for, fine, whatever, you know what they say about everybody having opinions, but if you really have convinced yourself "no thinking person" would call him a leader, or that he's the sworn enemy of the private sector (he's so in the pocket of big bidness there's a grassroots revolt against him from even the moderate left), you are just overwriting reality with your personal tastes.

Their is little doubt about that. As far as leader is concerned not so sure he can build consensus but I'm pretty sure no one can at this point. Read O Snowe's comment about the reason she retired.

This. And agree with Kepler. After 4 yrs of dealing with 'I have a big stick and big feet so I don't walk softly' I think any sort of leadership that is the slightest bit subtle goes way over peoples' heads. I don't always agree with what the Prez does but I think he is leading about as effectively as anyone can with the dingbats we have on the Hill. At this point any sort of leadership that really bangs the drum also stirs up all the crazies and guarantees gridlock.

This is rather fascinating. On one hand the talking point is he is an ineffective leader. On the other he is turning us into a Socialist state singlehandedly. If he is so poor a leader and ineffective why are they all whining he is turning us into a socialist state? (What exactly is Socialism defined now anyway? It obviously isn't what they taught me)

Heard a stat yesterday that floored me. The amt of drone strikes by Prez Bush was something like 40+, Prez Obama >200.

It shows the sad state of America when one can make lots of money spewing intolerance and hate but not by fighting for social justice.

Good for them. Way to fight against the racist banks. Home ownership is a right, and this couple should not be driven from their home.
