Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

Also interesting: auto bailouts are still opposed in MI, 51-43%. So Hugo Chavez probably couldn't be elected here.

Is that among all voters, or GOP voters?
More than 4 in 10 voters in Michigan said they supported the federal bailout of the auto industry, according to the exit poll.
That seems to indicate the results are among voters in the GOP primary.

A poll cited by the Christian Science Monitor seems to indicate about 2 in 3 Michigan voters support the bailout, and nearly 60% of them credit Obama with the renewed strength of Detroit.
The auto bailout is something on which Michigan voters, according to the most recent polling, give Obama a great deal of credit: 63 percent of registered voters and 42 percent of likely voters support the bailout while 58 percent of voters say Obama deserves a good or great deal of credit for the strength of the auto industry versus 37 percent who say he deserves little or none.

So I have to wonder what poll you're citing when you say the auto bailout is opposed in Michigan.

hm. CNN had it onscreen an hour ago, but I didn't catch the source. My impression was that it was polled from all residents. How aggravating it is that basic facts are so variable.

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

It does look now like Romney will pull out a win in MI (though it still drives me nuts when they say "his dad is still a big name here." um, no.) so anyway, yeah, this is probably the dems' best remaining option: back quietly out of the room while muttering about how you didn't really care who won. Of course the Democrat party didn't try to win it for Santorum! If they had, Romney would have lost; therefore it must just be a rumor. :p

You might want to learn that it's the DemocratIC Party, not the Democrat Party. Just as it isn't that Republic Party. Just a tip for future reference.

When you say "Democrat Party" it makes you look A) foolish and B) like you're reciting talking points.

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

MSNBC calls MI for Romney.

Santorum is on and really laying on the "those durned city slickers hate flyover country" shtick. He sounds like a cross between Saint Sarah and Pat Robertson.

No, not variable. Wrong.

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

No, not variable. Wrong.

but obviously the poll I read is wrong to you, and the poll you read is wrong to me. So when they don't agree they lose some value, even though one is obviously more wronger than another (unless they were taken at different times and are both accurate, which only adds to the aggravation).

No, one was an exit poll from the GOP primary. The other is registered voters. While the poll you cited may be accurate for GOP voters, the general election will be among ALL voters, not just those that voted in the Republican primary (sorry).

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

Everyone has their buttons, but I think it's hilarious how you go all Foxton when someone spells Democrat wrong. It's cute.
No, but I do admire your passion.

Yes, I care about being accurate and you don't. I see that now.

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

so santorum says in his speech that he would end all federal entitlement programs and turn those over to the states. I doubt Michigan would want to manage these programs.. He also said that he felt like he did not want to be led by the few elite people in high places, but aren't those guys Republican?

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

They put exactly one black guy and one brown woman (and one Indian guy... well, OK) behind Romney for his speech.

Diversity!

He also mentioned "the men and women who signed" the Declaration of Independence.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor!?

my first thought was what about the Pope

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

Priceless walked into that one, huh, geezer?

I think George Romney is still a big name in Michigan. maybe you have to be of an age. he was a good governor and stood up big time for civil rights.

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

Many TV outlets left the Frothy speech to announce that Romney had won Arizona. That's going to leave a mark.

Edit: Sorry for the unfortunate pun.
