Re: 2012 Elections: Corndogs for everyone!

Ye Olde USA Today Candidate Match Game. My answers are really scattered, but I agree mostly with Huntsman, Romney, Obama.

Huntsman, Obama? What are you, some kind of moderate? :D I left out Romney because I'm not sure which Romney they're using as he's taken both sides of just about every issue there is.;)

I appreciate righties new found love of Gingrich, but a negative ad campaign by Obama is going to stick to Newtie like flies on ...well, you know. Agreed with les' analysis. No reason for Dem enthusiasm now, but if Gingrich is the nominee that changes pretty quick. Unlike a Romney, he's a very polarizing and generally unpopular figure. How exactly does Newt appeal to Rust Belt states on the issue of creating jobs? Suggest everybody get hired as historians at Fannie Mae?

yeah, I've been turning into a liberal lately but still a bit surprised that I couldn't find more to agree with Ron Paul on. My opinions have lost their purity I guess. Huntsman seems by far to be the most sensible guy available; odd that he isn't more popular with smart OWS/Tea Party types that want a change.

Obama isn't even in the same hemisphere as a moderate - If he was anymore left he would be wearing a hammer and sickle lapel pin....

Re: 2012 Elections: Corndogs for everyone!

If Gingrich or even Mitt is the nominee then the GOP is a joke. At least the Dems put their money where there mouth is when they nominated and elected Obama. Niether Gingrich nor Mitt represents the party's true values. Santorum and Bachmann are both sitting there, get some guts.
I agree Bachmann and Santorum are the Ideal GOP candidates

Pretty good quiz.

67 Obama
40 Romney
37 Paul

Big agreements with:

Obama (Afghanistan, Energy, Health Care)
Romney (Medicare)
Paul (Military Spending)

Zero agreement with the Twisted Troika (Santorum, Bachmann, Perry).

Re: 2012 Elections: Corndogs for everyone!

Obama is center right. In fact you can argue that he's right of GW Bush. Yet, you call him a communist and Bachmann calls him a socialist. The definition of the word has changed.
Where the heck do you get that he is center right on ANY issue????

Re: 2012 Elections: Corndogs for everyone!

Obama is center right.
In terms of rhetoric Obama is more left, but in terms of governance (tragically) Obama is virtually identical to Reagan, except he has cut taxes more than Reagan and supported a far more hawkish foreign policy.

We have come a long way down since 1980 as a nation, and the migration of the parties to the far right and center right is a big part of it.

My reaction was which Romney and then Rover stole my thunder.

Obama is only a real lefty for those who are falling off the ledge on the right side. He has PO's a lot of left leaning people because he is too moderate. Would be curious to see what he has actually done that you consider socialist as per the standard definition. If it is healthcare I always wonder if the people reacting to that want to get rid of Medicare because that is socialist too and more than half the population would be unable to get care without it.
Obama, Romney (would die first- this is what he says until he actually gets there and then does something different), Huntsman. I think this result because of my non-reaction to some of the social issues.

If you are talking about the freedom scale then yes he is right of center if not 2/3rds the way to Socialist, Totalitarian Dictatorship on the right

His rhetoric isn't that left either. And since you're correct that he has cut taxes more than Reagan and warred it up more than Reagan that places him center right. But, GopherBigGuy911 thinks he's a communist. And that's why we have new definitions in this country. If you want a 3% tax increase on millionaires and billionaires you're a socialist. If you want a public option for Health Care you're a socialist, but you can't cut Medicare.

Again GopherBigGuy911, Obama is right of GW Bush. Try to argue otherwise. You can't.

HAHAHAHAHAAHAHA...man you almost got me with that one! Nice try though :D

I mean you can't be serious...Obama is closer to Reagan Republican than he is a socialist Dem. Kepler gave you some idea of why although quick google and youtube searches will probably do you better. The only people who think Obama is a Socialist/Communist are people who have no idea what those words mean.

I mean if Obama is a socialist...what is Newt? He is on record supporting the Individual Mandate that Obama didn't even put in his Health Care Reform Act

So once again...good comedy man I appreciate a great practical joke :)

Kep that's ridiculous. I don't recall Reagan expanding health care coverage to people nor allowing gays to serve openly in the military. I also don't recall him advocating for repealing tax cuts for top earners, increased regulation of Wall St, or bailing out a domestic industry.

To your point about tax cuts, I think that page has yet to be written. I'm curious if the conclusion of all this is that taxes go up for the rich or not. That is the clearest remaining battle of Obama's Presidency and the lines are clearly drawn.

The Health Care plan was a Republican plan. It wasn't left, it was right.
Bush's Medicare Prescription "D" program was left of the Obama Health Plan.
The appeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell is no more liberal than it is conservative. Now if he repealed DOMA that would be something.
Reagan actually accomplished the raising of Taxes. Obama has yet to accomplish that.

He's a right winger. No two ways about it.
