Re: 2012 Elections: Corndogs for everyone!

If Romney wins the nomination then I don't think he wins that award, even if he loses the general -- I think it will be close, and if he loses the reason isn't so much on him as on the GOP base. The award he is dangerously in line for is the Hillary Clinton Memorial Award for a politician needlessly blowing a nomination that is gift wrapped for him. I can't believe Newt doesn't hit his Self Destruct button before South Carolina, but if he does win the nomination, good Lord, we could be looking at a 60-40 popular vote in November (although the GOP could run a broken toaster and still win 100 EV, so it won;t be as embarrassing as Goldwater).

I meant for the nomination, not in the general. Romney will have trouble in the general becuase of his aforementioned image problem, as in people just don't like the guy. I can't fathom Gingrich as the nominee, but here we are. This should have been Perry's path to victory if he wasn't an airhead. In a general election I'm not sure how he goes Rust Belt and Southwest any better than the other GOP candidates who need to win in these places, but whatever. If Nixon could come back in '68, anything can happen.

Kind of blown away that the GOP hasn't managed to find anyone who is not the equivilent of Charlie Brown on some level that they can get behind. I know there are intelligent well spoken folks from the GOP- incredible they can't seem to get any traction past the nutbags or obvious sycophants.

Packaging. Dubya is in all likelihood even dumber than Perry but he had an effective (in the Joseph Stalin sense) campaign staff. There are several members of the US Senate who are even dimmer than Perry but they have amazing staff.

Bush's one saving grace electorally was he was able to keep his mouth shut -- deep down he probably knew he was in way over his head, and he did have that cowardly streak in him that probably held him back. Perry OTOH is full-on Sarah Palin -- he just doesn't know what he doesn't know. He's oblivious to even the theoretical existence of wisdom -- he would respond to it with a horse laugh or a knee slap.

WHat is it about Texas producing polititians with IQs that look like football scores?

Here in Asia (actually the 57th state) where we all speak Austrian (without a tele-prompter), it's comforting to know that "The One" is the greatest mind since Jimmy Carter. That being the case, some of us are wondering why his college transcripts are being withheld from the public. Seems like it took a few hours for Perry's records at A & M to be released. But for years now, we've not been able to see "The One's" college records. Why?

Weird place. They even have the perfect expression for it, "all hat and no cattle."

The South in general and Texas in particular are suckers for the "aw shucks" act. It may just be the post-1865 inferiority complex the whole place has: "don't you think you're better'n me!"

We lost the Civil War.

Epic smugness.

Ron Paul?, you may not like him but his IQ is hardly football score like

Umm...just curious, but what exactly do you hope to learn from him releasing his college transcripts? Are you hoping he actually graduated from the University of Kenya, and those stories about a birth certificate from that country are actually true???

Palin = Unelectable. Bachmann = Unelectable. Gingrich = not an easy election, but electable.

Ron Paul?, you may not like him but his IQ is hardly football score like

Paul is a northerner transplant. He lived the informative half of his life in Pennsylvania and Michigan.

This is not a "birther" matter, notwithstanding your fervant hopes. Releasing his transcripts (all of them, not just Harvard Law) would accomplish exactly what releasing Perry's transcripts did. No more, no less.

He actually has real world experience also

Just doing the math...Paul has called Texas home about 8 of his 78 years. There's a reason he doesn't sound like W or Perry...Paul's really not a Texan at all.

Re: 2012 Elections: Corndogs for everyone!

As an aside, I wasn't trying to be a nitpicky jack*ss there. I was a bit shocked to see 78 so I had to go and check myself because I thought he was in his early 70s.

Either way, he'll end up going senile early in his term. Reagan was bad enough, we dodged a bullet on McSame, and now people want to elect another old coot?
