Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

Yeah, but still with all that Idaho is facing, a move down to the Big Sky would be a better long term move for their football program, other than it pretty much means they're surrendering and giving up all of Idaho to Boise State.

Surrending all of football to Boise is done. But they have yet to do anything to move the rest of the school down there. Between BSU's school being horrible, and the investment that goes up to Moscow, I don't see the school moving anytime soon.

The problem is that a lot of Vandals think that football IS the school. As opposed to readying young people to get into the workforce and doing Research- both of which Idaho does a very credible job at. And it does not help that the state is very against school funding....

Florida State might be retiring the #4 jersey out of medical necessity this year.

Game 1, All-American DE #4 Brandon Jenkins suffers a Lisfranc injury on his foot. This weekend, #4 Chris Thompson blows his ACL 300 yards away from being the 1st 1,000 yard rusher at FSU since Warrick Dunn in 1996.

OSU and Oregon agreed to a series for 2020-2021 yesterday. Smart move by Ohio State, only question; will Meyer still be the coach?:p

For a second I was thinking "of course they did, they're in state rivals". I forgot about that other OSU. And the other one too.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

speaking of injuries- any news on Braxton Miller?
No concussion symptoms, sore neck, back to practice tomorrow.
One of the local talking heads described it as "whiplash symptoms." Having seen the hit live, I'd say that's plausible.

EDIT:Now Miller and Coach Meyer are both describing it as a "whiplash injury." Miller has been practicing this week on a no-contact basis. Off the field he's been getting neck massages for the whiplash symptoms.

Legitimate question, and a question that goes beyond the OSU job. Gotta wonder if the days of coaches serving for a full generation are behind us. With so much pressure, the intense time demands, etc., holding one of the high profile jobs for more than a decade is a very tall order. The current compensation packages certainly make early retirement possible. The harsh environment these guys work in may make it almost necessary.

Always glad to see top teams signing up for nonconference series.
Ohio State's Future "Marquee" Non-Conference Opponents:

2013 @ California
2014 Virginia Tech
2015 @ Virginia Tech
2016 @ Oklahoma
2017 Oklahoma
2018 @ TCU
2019 TCU
2020 @ Oregon
2021 Oregon
2022 @ Texas
2023 Texas

No doubt someone else has a more impressive slate, but that's not a bad set of games at all.

Anybody watching the USC-Tennessee game on ESPN just saw one of the more gruesome injuries that I have ever seen live as Marcus Lattimore just probably got knocked out for the season. He took a hit low on a tackle, and when he was coming down, his knee was bending the wrong way. As a Clemson fan, I truly hope that he is able to get back on the field at some point in the future. I hate seeing extremely talented kids getting hurt.

On a lighter..(or heavier by weight) note.

Kansas 14, Texas 7 (halftime)

Decided. Schematic. Advantage.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

I would be okay if Texas never won another game in the history of their program. They are severely overrated this year.

They need a new hungry coach. They recruit like Miami in the mid 2000's. They get who they want, but they rely too much on recruiting services or something. They have their 25 man class all but signed and sealed the previous summer almost all from Texas. Despite that, they didn't offer RG3 or Andrew Luck, both of who were Texas kids. Whoops. I'm sure that happens at a bunch of other positions as well.

Interesting take. Perhaps they were too satisfied with their title in '05? Resting on your laurels does not work at Texas. Sure they played for the title in '09, but averaging 6 losses each of the last two seasons, I would imagine that a couple more 5-7 loss seasons will cost Brown his job.

I suppose it could be worse, you could always be a Colorado fan.

Halftime in Eugene
Buffs-0
Ducks-56

EDIT: ...and the refs just screwed MSU out of 30 seconds by changing a first down call. Oh well, this offense wouldn't have done anything with it anyway.
