2012 D1 BCS thread

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

Marcus Lattimore suffered a broken femur, broken patella, torn ACL, torn MCL, torn PCL, and torn LCL. Sounds painful. I think he's done for the season...

Yeah, I was worried that it was a broken leg + ripped up knee. I just didn't think the leg would have bent that way without a broken leg. Poor kid...I really hope he is able to rehab and and play again, but at this point, I just hope he can walk normally at some point in the future. This is the type of stuff you just hate to see happen to these kids. At least professionals are getting paid. Hopefully Lattimore had some sort of insurance policy on his leg.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

I've seen comments on other boards saying the hit was dirty. (Not from South Carolina fans BTW)
I didn't see it as dirty or "targeting the knee."
Do any of you guys think it was?

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

No. It was a low hit, because Lattimore is a big strong back and corners and safeties have to hit low to have any chance in hell of stopping the guy.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

OK, your turn this week. Any updates on Denard Robinson?

Nothing yet- official site or the local news site.

I did read it was a pinched nerve in his arm, which prevented him from gripping with any strength. Kinda important for someone who has to hold a football....

Having had a pinched ulnar nerve before, I feel bad for him. You can't really do anything but wait for it to heal. It sucks. I was in a sling for a week, NO use of my arm/hand, and it still took a day or two after that before I could do anything.

Unfortunately I've seen plenty of South Carolina fans complaining that the hit was dirty (of course, I probably read more blogs dealing with South Carolina/Clemson football than most on here).

I thought the hit was fine. If he was "targeting the knee", he was targeting the wrong one...of course the SEC does struggle to differentiate between left and right. Overall though, I agree with bronconick...Lattimore is a massive back, and as a corner/safety, you aren't going to tackle him up top...you have to go low. It's the nature of the game.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

Whoever posted the injuries to Lattimore, where did you get that info? ESPN reporting that there weren't any fractures.

I'm not sure where MNS got it, but it was pretty widely being reported that those were the injuries. I'm glad it was not that catastrophic. Hopefully, Lattimore puts the pads on again.

Ouch. Sounds like it might come down to a game day decision in Minny. The silver lining is that it's unlikely to be a long term thing. Best of luck to Denard in the recovery; definitely want to see the best players on the field, not laid up with injuries...

Boy, I'll be happy really happy if he starts given that.

God, you are whipped. I can see not cheering for Minnesota, but cheering for Michigan? Really? Whatever happened to cheering for the old reliable stadium collapse? Even if you will be in the stadium.

Update- A2 News is reporting that he's expected to play this weekend, with some kind of sleeve on the throwing arm, and that Hoke "thinks" Robinson will practice some this week. they are also reporting Bellomy and Gardner will get more reps this week. Which makes a WHOLE lot of sense.

I know Bellomy didn't do all that well, but given the way the offence was situated, and how quickly he was thrown into it, I'm a lot more optimistic than most. After the 0-10 start, he got some good completions in- just making some forced pass mistakes to finish it out. If the offence is ready for a more true passer + normal running back, I bet they'll do ok (as opposed to horrible). May not light the scoreboard, but not nothing.

Still hope Robinson is ok- sounds like the funny bone hit from hell.

(FWIW, this does not appear to be anywhere near as scary has Miller- to be taken off the field like that, yikes) ((which, in turn, is nothing like poor Lattimore...))

Sorry to say, but it does not appear that Sandy will make it to Minnesota by kickoff... ;)

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

Sorry, alfa. I was very pleased to see Boise run it up against Wyoming in Laramie. Especially after what what a--wad of a coach Dave Christensen did to Air Force. Thanks for dishing out some justice, Boise.
