Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

See post above.

I must have missed something in his response because I'm not sure what he's getting at. Amazed the U and Northwestern are undefeated? Or...?

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

I mean, we're all amazed. So I don't see why that's even worth writing. It's a stupid response to a legitimate question. One more reason I think Bennett was a terrible hire by ESPN. Rittenberg does a fine job. There was no need to expand the coverage to Bennett.

Speaking of the Gophers...its not so much what they even do this year, record-wise. It is obvious to anyone that has watched the games that they have turned a corner when it comes to attitude and the way they play. They will lose some, if not several league games, but they're on the way up now, and we just have to wait and see how far Kill can take them.

That would have been the intelligent response. Yet Bennett chose the exploding head response.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

I agree, I think the response was worthless. I'm of the mind that the Gophers will not be 'relevant' this season even if they manage to beat IA and NW, but it would at least be an interesting topic by then should it happen. Fact is this program doesn't go 4-0 the past few years, yet that alone doesn't mean much because Brewster had them 7-1 in 2008 and they completely collapsed after. I do think this team is less of a mirage in the sense Kill is a real coach and Brewster was a salesman with a baseball hat and whistle. I still don't believe they are, "for real" but I don't care. This is the first time I've felt the, "headed in the right direction" cliche actually meant something since Lou left for South Bend. Mason had his moments but he never had a defense good enough to matter. I would still be surprised to see them win 3 BT games this year, but if they do and can manage to avoid looking like posers any loss perhaps they can finally and truly be, "headed in the right direction" without having to choke the phrase down.

Fowler: "Illinois had their pants pulled down last week and now they face Penn State."

Bad Chris!

RE: MN - Iowa game
That looks like an interception, but really, Barker should have gotten that one, and not let the defender take it away.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

I didn't think he had full control until he was well out of bounds.
Maybe, but it was hard to tell for me. I could see it go either way.

Shortell threw it just a touch too late, if he would have gotten it there a split second earlier, he would have hit Barker in stride and it would have been 6.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

They did not... Did they?
Yeah, they did. It was after they won some game at the dome, the fans rushed the field, tore down the goal posts, then ripped off one of the upright poles, and hauled it out into the concourse, and tried to get it out the revolving doors.

There is a youtube video showing them haul it up stairs to the concourse, but not the revolving door part.
