2012 Alaska Governor's Cup: A battle of like-minded schools

Re: 2012 Alaska Governor's Cup: A battle of like-minded schools

UAA people, what's an approximate number of UAA alums that live in Anchorage/ER/Mat-Su? I'm curious how many people (affiliated with both schools) that the ADN decided to ignore today. UAF has about 3,500 alums in the Anchorage area.

Therein lies a BIG part of the problem with attendance and the way UAA is perceived. Doyle Woody is a huge Aces fan, and could really care less about UAA hockey. Even when the Seawolves win he finds something to be negative about.

That wasn't pretty, but a win is a win. :)

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Story of the 'Nooks season. I think Greenham wants #3 back, that was about the worst goal I've seen him allow all year. Nice win, Seawolves.

Our guys better bring their A-game for 60 minutes instead of 40 tonight.

Until those knuckleheads figure out how many people they are ignoring nothing will happen. And ADN may never figure it out; that paper has had a dramatic decline in quality over the last five years. I have a few ideas on how to get their attention but it will take a bi-partisan effort, so to speak.

I think you'll find a lot of support from UAA fans. Drop me an email and let me know what you have in mind.

Three CUPS in a row, way to bounce back nanooks.

Re: 2012 Alaska Governor's Cup: A battle of like-minded schools

A few things...

I am proud of my boys for keeping the cup home.

Big props to UAA for refusing to roll over. I spoke with Coach Shyiak briefly at the airport tonight and told him as much. You guys played well, hold your heads high.

I am stoked for when this returns to a four game (and conference) series. Tonight was like the Carlson Center circa 2000-06. It was fun to be a part of it.

Re: 2012 Alaska Governor's Cup: A battle of like-minded schools

Im upset. Just got back from the police station filing a report because some yahoo decided to charge, push, grab and rip up a sIgn I had. Sorry Squarebanks, I'm done with your town, not coming back. This series is getting out of hand, on both sides.

For the game itself, UAA played bad and got beat. After the third goal they gave up.

For the shootout, UAA won it. They scored 3 goals but for whatever reason it didn't get counted. Not even a review.

I'm steamed and needed that off.

Oh my gosh jimjames...I've had my signs ripped plenty of times at the sullivan by seapup fans. I've been cursed at by fans at the Sullivan, had soda thrown at me once, seen players get spit on...etc...but filing a police report? Really? You must feel so big and mighty for doing that. Quit being a whiny little sore loser. The "goal" hit the outside post, never crossed the line. And anyways I'm sure you said and did things that caused the ripped sign. But you know you really aren't hurting our feelings by saying you won't be coming back.

Update signature. :)

Oh look here comes the IceAngel! I said something that deserved it. Ok yeah me and my friends having some friendly banter and actually talking and having a laugh means I totally deserved it. Shut the * up girl. Just because I'm actively trying to get this behavior stopped on both sides of the series instead of rushing back to the kitchen like you. If somebody can't walk out of a building, like I was, without being hassled physically then this series needs to be stopped right now.

Re: 2012 Alaska Governor's Cup: A battle of like-minded schools

Police reports won't stop anything most likely, did you actually get the name of the person? Have any evidence of it happening aside from a ripped sign? Go to the University and start there if that is truly your mission. I agree the physical part is unnecessary but at the same time, you admit you have "friendly" banter. You should know by now not everyone knows how to take that banter in a friendly manner. It was the first sell out crowd in how long for us? Probably a third of those fans hardly come to any games, so they are new...(or they drink too much). So thinking before speaking is sometimes the wisest thing one can do, especially when you're the visiting teams fans. I've learned that while visiting Anchortown.

Considering a security guard grabbed the individual and I had witnesses with me, I'm pretty sure I got evidence. And that's why you file police report because now this on record and I can and will pursue this with the athletic departments. The individual that did this I hadn't seen all night, so no friendly banter that went wrong. I shouldn't be getting hassled physically for a humorous sign and neither should anybody on either side. It's time to get this under control.

Alright then, good luck with that.

I've had unprovoked Seawolf fans shout **** THE NOOKS directly in my face at Sullivan Arena. I don't even bother going to rivalry basketball games at WFSC anymore. I have every reason to despise UAA based on very personal experience, but some of my best friends have gone there and I figured out a few drunk idiots don't represent an entire fanbase. Sorry you had to deal with some idiot. Have a fun trip home. Guess I better get back in the kitchen.

So the police report is for what? Do you contend that ripping up your sign is a form of assault? Or was there a scuffle involved?

I should file a report against that UAA dude with the huge belly that dances like a teenybopper. That was certainly an assault. :D

It was like a trainwreck. Could. Not. Stop. Watching. :D
