2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

Re: 2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

And here after meeting you in Houghton I thought you were better than that....:p;)

The fact that he's half Gopher fan and goes to more Minnesota than UND games should've told you better than to think that.

Re: 2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

I thought he was a "lock"?

When he said that he thoroughly researched CHL as an option, and decided that the college route was best for him, it certainly seemed like a lock. That being said, there is no such thing as a lock in college hockey recruiting.

Good luck to Lemieux in the CHL and with the rest of his career.

After watching Rocco play a few games now, he brings a certain mentality and tenacity to the rink that I haven't seen in a long time. This guy simply doesn't quit. I tried to think of Duncan for a comparison, but Grimaldi is a better skater and way more aggressive. His next move is to sway the hedonistic players on this team from the dark side to the promised land...:)

The 'sky' is the limit for this kid.

He is a different player from Parise, but his focus and intensity reminds me of him. Not intensity as in just skating hard all the time, intensity like he is both skating and thinking. He's in the game both physically and mentally. If he makes it at the next level, though, it will not be a Parise-like role, at least not until he bulks up and can play the corners and scrum better. Maybe Kane. But man, does he understand where the puck should go.

Very rare for a Sioux. I can see how that would be impressive. Next you'll tell us he can walk and chew gum at the... never mind, no one would believe that.

I kid. Wish I'd get to see him in person, but y'all don't come here for at least 3 years and he doesn't sound like a 4 year guy by the description.

Why is it you guys think that that gumming motion means we are chewing gum. Go to your local nursing home and watch the old guys while they watch the ladies do puzzles. You give us teeth and we will chew your dam gum.

Must have been weird for you guys to beat a team with "Boston" on their sweaters for a change. :)

I got to watch the third period on TV and the Grimaldi kid is fun to watch. When BU gooned it up like they tend to do, he was right there getting his nose in it which was great to see.

Rocco isnt afraid to go to the dirty areas. I just hope he sticks around for at least 2 years if not 3. He will be an NHL player someday. He just has to much to offer not to.

You must be a pretty young guy. Most North Dakota fans have been following the team for decades and have more good memories against the Boston schools than negative ;)

The last time BU traveled to Grand Forks? 1996-1997...I seem to also remember what happened at the end of that season :p:D:D

Last night's game was a whole lot of fun to watch...especially for an early season non-conference game. I wouldn't be surprised if BU does some damage in Hockey East.

You'll just have to treat yourself and your son to a scenic car ride and a fun filled Saturday night at the Taj MaRalph in early Feb. If you're lucky, you might even get to see how far a dead badger can slide on well-kept ice. If you've ever watched curling, you get the picture.

Re: 2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

Well crap. It looks like last year, and the year before, and the year before.....split, split, split. Is there a good reason UND teams can't play as well before Christmas as they do after? Very frustrating!

Do a couple of bald guys shimmy in front of it with brooms to move it down the ice?

The way my son's season is going, I might just have to think about it.

FS23, I think he was referring to the recent obstacle known as boston college. Everyone knows boston university has been very beatable for a long time now.

Only on ladies' night when they barely make it over the glass. If this were Wisconsin, where the women are bigger and stronger than the men, it wouldn't be necessary.

Re: 2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

First off, thanks again for the hospitality. Sniping posts and tweets aside, everyone I met in Grand Forks was great. So many people came up to me and other BU fans during our stay to welcome us and asking if we were enjoying our stay. It really made the trip a lot of fun for me. While waiting in line to buy tickets the football game yesterday, a woman asked if we were here for the games and handed us tickets. Ha!

Which leads me to my second thought....at the game I noticed the cheerleaders chanting Go Big Green a few times. Is that something your athletic department might be pushing in light of no Fighting Sioux name to chant? Congrats on the comeback win, too. I left at the start of the third quarter and you were down 22-13. Sorry I missed the comeback.

Also, I appreciate the recommendations of places to eat. We ate at The Toasted Frog last night and it was delicious. Wish I had more of an opportunity to try a few more of the martinis on the list. :)

Hope to see some of you head east next November!

Regardless, some of my best memories include victories over Boston College. Now, if you've only been a fan for the last half-dozen years or so, I could see where someone might think that would be the case.
