2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

Re: 2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

I agree. Even a 4-4 record over the next four weekends will be a pretty tough assignment. Although to be blunt, when I look at the schedule I have a hard time seeing exactly when it's going to be easy this year.

This next weekend is going to be a real chore. Jackson has Notre Dame playing that shutdown defense like he did at LSSU, and North Dakota hasn't yet figured out how to generate a sustained offensive attack. This also figures to be huge from a pairwise standpoint at the end of the year, so the boys better figure out how to get at least one win.

Maybe with all the hoopla over the return to #1 for their football team, the Thanksgiving weekend, and the big game against USC, we can sneak into town and steal some wins. :)

I totally agree with you guys. This season honestly seems to be a stretch of good teams. Even the "cupcake" games are against teams that seem to be performing well (i.e. Tech, Mankato, Holy Cross, Fairbanks). These non-conference games will be huge in the long run. Fortunately, I think we have a manageable schedule in the immediate future. A Notre Dame team that looked good at lowly Michigan and Northern Michigan, but mediocre at home, a CC team that got run over by Denver, and having Denver here is huge. I think 4-4 is realistic, but anything beneath that would be a bit of a disappointment.

Not surprised. I think in year's past we've outdrawn some NHL teams, or at least came pretty close.
Obviously they count season ticket holders as attendance. I was at the AA series and I would guess 9000 fans for each game if that.

I'm sure they do, but that's the standard practice (tickets sold v. actual attendance), so the comparison is still valid.

Re: 2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

I was wondering if someone could help me out here.

I'm trying to track down some UND/Wisconsin games on video and was told that there were a few Sioux fans that might be able to help out.

Thanks in advance. Also, any assistance with some good places for me and my wife to visit when we head up to the games in February when the Sioux and Badgers face off. (She's a Sioux fan... so she'll be dragging around a 'sconnie.)

Huge win last night going into the DU series at the Ralph this coming weekend. The boys definitely deserved some points considering this was probably their best weekend of hockey to date. DU in a bit of a slump which could be a good thing but I have a feeling the Dasher Dancer will have them ready come friday.

Was reading an article by Brad Schlossman in The Dickinson Press and he mentioned that: "UND has now outshot its opponent in the last four games by at least 10 shots." http://www.thedickinsonpress.com/event/article/id/63727/

I'm beginning to believe the 2nd half surge may have already started. Was great to see Grimaldi get some points last Saturday. Taking 3 of 4 points from Denver was impressive.

The problem with starting the second half surge now is the break.

The one positive in my mind is that Hak seems to have found line combinations for the top two lines that work. Still a little work to do on the bottom two, although he's been getting some high energy out of both the 3rd and 4th lines.

It will be interesting to see what happens when (if?) Parks makes it back in the lineup. Pretty hard to keep him off the top two if he plays like he did the last half of last year (and his one period this year). Also, is there still going to be a Mitch MacMillan sighting in the second half?
