2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Going to 3rd OT in Hamden. The officiating is SO BAD in this game I fear they may end up causing the GWG. Somebody from the league office needs to review the game tape. And this is not even among the worst games I've seen for officiating this season.

Carmen McDonald in net for SLU is certainly the star of the game so far.

Who are the refs?

A few years ago Quinnipiac was involved in another marathon with RPI, in one of the longest ever Women's hockey games. I think it was late in the 4th OT when it ended, and it was the third and deciding game.

P.S. Just looked it up. That one ended at 4:32 in the 5th period, RPI scoring to win the third and deciding game. It was in 2010, and Vigilante was in net for the Bobcats then as well (as a rookie).

P.S. Part 2. What are the odds of this. Vigilante's number comparison.
...... Back in the 2010 Marathon she faced 59 shots and made 57 saves.
...... Today she faced 59 shots and made 57 saves. .....But this time it was enough for the win.

Add Kosta missing for Quinnipiac this weekend. Lots of big names out of action

Amanda Kessel didn't take shift at all this afternoon. She played some on the power play last night but by the time the first penalty was called on Bemidji today the Gophers were already up 5-0 so she sat it out.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Amanda Colin scores one of the most beautiful goals seen this season-- in the 109th+ minute for Quinnipiac....perfect toe drag around Bouiler and moves to the left side of the net to back hand it (?) past McDonald. Quinnipiac lives to see another day.

Terrific game by Colin, the first 2-goal game of her career. She had only 1 goal this year prior to today. She saved it for the biggest stage. In her interview after the game "I have no idea where that move came from, but it worked". Cute.

The Trillium Award for Team Game Video Coverage most definitely goes to Quinnipiac, by far and away the best around. Not only is it a good video feed, but the Sportscasters and both knowledgeable (unusual) and exciting to listen to. There is even between periods and post-game coverage and interviews. Best of all, it is also FREE!

I remember it well. Unfortunately that was one the refs did end up deciding. Today Colin was having no part of that. The most important, and possibly also the prettiest, of her career so far.

Reminds me of the 2007 Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse, Yukon...Manitoba vs NWT...Leah Sulyma (later that year with Northeastern) in goal for NWT faced 92 shots according to this report but the numbers at the time were 96!!!! It was an absolute one sided shootout at the OK Coral but Sulyma stood on her head...Manitoba only won 6-0!!! and had tons of great soon to be D1 talent on their team! It was quite a sight to behold.

Carman MacDonald also played in that tournament for Nova Scotia at the tender age of 14!!!!

Manitoba played two back to back games against Nova Scotia and I recall watching her eyes often which struck me as displaying fear. If so, it was more than understandable with scouts/coaches from all over North America hanging from the rafters at the Tahini Arena including Team Canada brass, not to mention all the tv cameras and crews. Then again, I also thought that she just might have been awestruck at actually being a part of that tremendous event but I thought that fear was more likely. I have had huge respect and admiration for her ever since just for being there on that stage at that tremendously young age and playing, especially the two games against the powerhouse that was Team Manitoba which consisted of many 16 and 17 year olds.

Meanwhile in the most anticipated match in the WCHA quarters, OHIO goes on the road to sweep UMD. OSUALUM dancing in the street ?

Definitely dancing in the street in this one! I wasn't able to make the trek up to Duluth from central Ohio, so I paid the $8 for the video feed earlier today. That was definitely money well spent! I know I am biased, but Ohio State looked good today. They made the most of their opportunities on offense, and on the other end of the ice, our blueliners just smothered UMD. They had some quality scoring chances, but not many. Coach Handrahan had a great gameplan, and the girls executed it. We might be a long shot to advance past this point (Gophers are the next opponent), but Coach Handrahan has our program moving in the right direction, no question about that!

For anyone in the Plattsburgh/Charter Cable area, the SNU-Plattsburgh game is live on channel 10. Probably college broadcasters. May want to sync Ducky if you can.

Mercyhurst wins the CHA title with a 4-1 victory over Syracuse, scoring all 4 goals in the 3rd period, after giving up the opening goal with 1 second remaining in the 2nd period.
