Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Bergeron skated with the rest of the team today, but didn't take any hits.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

I like the blackhawks fan randomly sitting there too.
Uhh, that's a Calgary jersey. That's the flaming horse on the shoulder.

In the event of ATL to WPG, the most equitable solution is WPG to the Northwest, MIN to the Central and NSH to the Southeast (which would actually make the SE a very competitive division, save for the Panthers).
That makes THE most sense, but we all know the NHL doesn't believe in common sense.

I really think the whole six division thing needs to get scrapped for four divisions. Top four from each division advance to the playoffs, play for division titles, then conference titles, then the Stanley Cup.

This would allow the eight Pacific/Mountain time zone teams to be in their own division. The (before WPG) seven Central/Eastern time zone teams to be together.
Split the East up however into two different divisions.

Playoff travel is (somewhat) minimized between time zones until Conference finals. This may lead to a somewhat unbalanced schedule though (haven't completely thought it out).

Or, pull an MLB. 16 teams in one conference, 14 in the other.

So, I don't want to be an ***, but it's worth asking: does Boogaard count against the Rangers' cap next year?

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

What the hell is with this two days off between games played in the same arena crap? I love hockey, but it going into mid-June is ridiculous.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Because the NHL wants prime TV time?

I believe Boston had to take into account the Celtics possibly winning their 2nd round matchup (Game 1 would have been tonight if Boston/Atlanta had won).

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

I have to agree. It's just one game, and I didn't see anything that made me think that the Bruins were fundamentally overmatched in the series. I'm old enough to remember the 1988 Stanley Cup finals, and last night did not look anything like that.

Thomas needs to shake it off and the power play needs a lucky goal (and the realization that they have a better chance of scoring from down low than with howitzers from the blue line). This is still winnable.

He showed he can move past a few sloppy performances after game two in philly when they were up a few goals. Boston showed a similar layover effect against montreal in their first two games, but they looked better in those losses than they did on Saturday. Maybe tampa is better, I don’t know. One game isn’t really enough to make a good call. All I know is that they need to start being a threat on the PP - it’s a miracle they have made it this far without one.

I usually don't pay much attention to eBay, but there are some absolute bargains for tonight's Bruins/Lightning game on there. If I lived closer I would be tempted...

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Canadiens make it official after a week of speculation and sign Alexei Emelin (or Aleksey Yemelin, take your pick). Definitely a guy that could make Bruins fans forget how much they hate Subban, because Emelin is a dirty player. If there were prop bets on "will this player be suspended by the NHL next year?", I'd be flying to Vegas to throw down on that.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

great to see the refs doing their best to help boston get that powerplay goal. either that, or they were trying to help tampa bay set some sort of ridiculous record for pk awesomeness.

now, if only the refs could implement some sort of eternal delayed penalty thing against tampa, so the boston d doesn't have to actually play defense. that way, they can focus on taking a million more shots from a foot inside the blue line as possible. because those go in all the time.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

That was fun.

Back to PSN. Congrats Tampa.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

So I should continue watching all my recorded shows then? OK.

If you have the game on DVR, just watch the middle 19 minutes of the first period.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Allowing a goal in the first minute of the period and the last minute of the period.

Brutal.

Not just the first and last minute, but 13 seconds in and with 6 seconds left. Just amazing.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Hey hey Tyler Seguin...have a series.

Two goals in two games. This kid's earning his keep.

Sick goal.
