Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs: Can the goalies be stopped?

For all the talk of Matt Cooke, Raffi Torres is as big of a ****** hiding out in Western Canada.

Edit: And the Vancouver coach is whining to get Seabrook involuntarily sent to the dressing room (he ended up going after 5 minutes of game time). I can't think of a team I'd like to see win less. Maybe Anaheim.

He was collecting the puck along the boards. Let's see you do that. That was a malicious hit on seabrook and he deserves whatever he gets.

Agree. A textbook example of what the NHL says its trying to get rid of. Let's see if they follow through with a suspension here. As a repeat offender, 20 games would be my vote.

So, in theory, if I do try that and avoid the hit, then what?

And he will most likely be hoisting The Cup in June. Thats what he is going to get.

After Kunitz, Pronger, and Cooke already got their names on it, the Cup has already been defiled more than when Draper let his kid drop a deuce in it. I probably won't even flinch.

What, 50 years of showing hockey, and CBC can't find a penalty clock to show during power plays? I'm pretty sure a college kid at the University of Toronto could whip one up tied to the clock you already show in a day.

Cant be defiled worse than what Def Leppard did to it.

It's not like he was handling the puck at the time - it was loose along the boards. In that situation, players are expected to be trying to play the puck, not take each other's heads off to prevent them from doing so.

it's a shame we'll only see Toews one more game in this year's playoffs.:(

As much as I hate Vancouver, I hate the Blackhawks more. They were my first NHL team that I really hated. *ing 'hawks.

for me it's detroit. I grew up an Avs fan as I didn't have the Wild, and then grew to the Wild as the hometown team. *ing 'wings.;)

*ing gophers, too.;)

For me, it was saving up paper route money to get the "good" seats at the Met, for a North Stars game (especially awesome if it was a 'Hawks game). Personal insults, fights in the stands, fake-offering money to the refs to "call the game clean" etc (yes, I did make such an offer at the age of 14 :D ).

Vancouver, while a worthy rival, is still sorta new to me, and doesn't take precedence over my roots.

My TV section says this is on tonight:

6 p.m. (Versus) - NHL playoffs. Phillies at Sabres

I can't wait to see Ryan Howard on skates!

Easy answer here: the team that's about to send the Bruins packing in 5 games (if not 4). If Montreal is too obvious a choice, I'll go with any team associated with Ulf Samuelsson*, starting with Pittsburgh. Screw them.

*The Whalers were almost impossible to hate. And it was before Neely, anyway...

I miss Detroit having a real rival. Even Chicago doesn't feel like much of one. The Avs thing was a brief 5-6 year fling, and once Lemieux and Roy were gone it was basically over. The Leafs stink and play in the East now. The Sharks and the 'Nucks haven't won a Cup yet.

We just sort of absorb the rest of the league's general hate these days.
