Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Opens the door for them to sign Bryzgalov.

Yes, but it's rare that an oft rumored deal comes to fruition; not to mention that they've traded someone they gave a 12 year deal. I mean the deal is exactly as people had it since Bryz was acquired.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

What the heck is going on in Philly?!? Now this:

As per @GMillerTSN, PHI talking with LAK about a deal that would send Mike Richards to Kings. Not done yet, but could happen.

McKenzie twitter

Edit: rumored deal is Richards for a package including Simmonds and Schenn. Unreal...

StubHub has opening game tickets for Bruins/Flyers at $375 apiece in the 13th row of the balcony.

I don't think $70 is going to cut it :p

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Holy crap. Mike Richards deal official.

Hey Richards, shut your mouth about "respect". You obviously had ZERO in your own room, loser.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Don't think it's been posted yet:
Salary cap = 64.3M
Salary floor = 48.3M

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

I'd like to thank the Flyers for their part in making this year's Winter Classic a matchup of teams battling for the last playoff spot. And if they don't sign Bryz, I mean teams battling for 10th in the East.

I wouldn't spend three hours surrounded by Flyers and Bruins fans if YOU gave ME $375.

Bob McKenzie tweets Bryz signs 9 years for $51M

Man, I hope the NHL looks at it. Yesterday the rumor it was 7/50. If they added two years for $1 million, I hope the league slaps them down.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

FWIW, I realize Lidstrom is a great player and that +/- doesn't tell the whole story...but how do you win the Norris as a -2?
I wonder if the voters thought he was going to retire and wanted to give him a gold watch, so to speak.

From Darren Dreger:

Flyers asked for Kadri and Kulemin from the Leafs for Mike Richards. Toronto said they would consider it, but never heard back from Phi.

Leafs were also interested in Carter and Kadri was discussed, but Tor wouldn't include Kulemin to close deal for Carter.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Wait, are they now maize and blue colored home jerseys?!? Good GOD.

I kinda like it though. :o Maybe years of seeing garish colored minor league uni's makes me more accepting.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Methinks we can expect some more salary dumps fron Philly.
Assuming the Bryzgalov deal is true, the Flyers have $7 million remaining for 9 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 3 goalies. That's without Simmonds and Voracek signed.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

That doesn't make sense. They currently have 9/6/3? Because no one needs 3 goalies. In that case, they need a 4th line and a depth forward/7th d-man and can waive a goalie. Easy to fit under the cap.

I got that off the Flyers' fan forum...they aren't exactly mentally stable at the moment. :p
But no one there has refuted those numbers...

Edit: According to CapGeek the Flyers have $7,576,905 of cap space and can spend $1,515,381 per roster spot. Only San Jose and Chicago are as low.

Edit2: The site also says the Flyers have 9/6/3 under contract and 5 RFA and 5 UFA.

Tickets are crazy now because they aren't even for sale yet. They'll come down. And I rarely use StubHub anymore, you can almost always find face value on CraigsList.

$70 may be a bit unrealistic I realize, but it won't be too bad, I'm almost sure. Does anyone know when they are actually going on sale?

And the reason New York is on the road for so long is because of renovations to MSG.
