2011 Division III Commitments

Re: 2011 Division III Commitments

If the kid's good, Saul will find a way to play him a good amount of games. Let's not forget in the first half of the season MacDonald looked less than stellar. I'm of the opinion he's a very good, but streaky goalie. I'm sure Coach Saul would love to have a goalie he can put in for 8-10 games next year that doesn't have a five-hole a bus could drive through or a glove hand so slow that a six year old could roof one.

How dare you! Regardless of your hockey pedigree, you are evil. Mr. MacDonald is paying to play DIII hockey; he is not a paid pro nor paid Jr player or even a scholarship DI player. Do you think or say this aloud of your kid or player if you heaven forbid coach? Where is the moderator?

Amen Reg. This is typical of many of the clueless idiots that post here. Many of whom were waterboys on their Little League teams. These guys should be forced to go face to face with these kids that they repeatedly trash. They would never do it they hide behind the anonymity of the internet.

First of all, I wasn't picking on MacDonald, he's a very good goaltender who will get better over the next two years. Second, I was being fetitious. I don't pass my posts of as facts, they're opinions. My opinion is that Elmira's backup goaltender left his five hole wide open too much and struggled with his glove hand. Just because I make wise comments about it doesn't mean I'm evil.

I'm evil because of other things, but my comments here don't define me as an evil person.

To the benefit of the thread, I will end my comments here, read your first post and then your second post and note the tone. As a parent of child who plays D III hockey, your comment though "facetious" was mean-spirited and fails to grasp the concept of the nurturing path from youth hockey to the pinnacle of college hockey, specifically your role as adult. In my humble opinion, those who think as you, who post as you, are evil. From Wikipedia "Evil is the intention or effect of causing harm or destruction, usually specifically from the perception of deliberately violating some moral code. Evil is usually seen as the opposite of good." There are countless definitions, you can judge yourself.

With all due respect and if you are indeed a player's father forking out megabux to have Jr play collegiate hockey ...

A good coach or parent would hopefully and tactfully point out players' weaknesses. It is the only way to learn. And had you seen some of the goaltending of which CH speaks, you would have to agree. To do otherwise is blissful ignorance and a blatant disservice to your players/kids. Besides, any player who takes anything on this board seriously has problems deeper than a slow glove hand.

This is great. I'm glad you're out to make sure the self-esteem buckets of student-athletes aren't knocked over. Good thing all these coaches aren't critical of their players, could you imagine the turmoil?

Amen to you! Its also funny how some players want to be treated like gods by their fans but cant take the critisms. Again I go back to my being treated like babies post....

And im pretty sure if you sat down with Mac and said something about his glove hand or five hole he might agree, he might not, its an opinion. Some people really cant take a joke

I was actually talking about Bolin, Elmira's backup. MacDonald's actually excellent all around, I think with him it's consistency. Sometimes he looks like he's a little disinterested, but it may just be me.

Anyways, back to recruits. I see Hamilton has a few which is interesting to me seeing as they still haven't announced a coach.

Shelby must be a feisty little fella.......with alot of touch around the net !
F, Shelby Gray Swan Valley Stampeders 5'10", 175 Invermay, Sask. 55gp, (36-25-61), 114pim

The re-load continues ,...but by my count 7 more names are required to replace the graduating class

yes, they had better learn to kill penalties with the last 2 recruits they put on the board.....

In addition to a head men's hockey coach, Hamilton is looking for a head men's basketball coach, assistant coaches for women's soccer and volleyball and a sports information intern - maybe they are a little busy.

Having been a long time reader of these boards for informational purposes I think they its great, but for some people on here to talk about players like they are pro is not right. The funny thing is that I guarantee the people who talk the most have NEVER skated in their lives. These kids on these teams have no idea who you are i am sure, but show a little class. This site is great to keep people updated on division 3, but lets keep the opinions to people who actually have played the game.

It's a discussion board, and [fortunately] not exclusive to those who've actually "played a game." If you don't appreciate the discussion or opinions of the uninformed masses, then stay away. I actually happen to "think they its great."

While I agree that sometimes the criticism of players can go overboard - the blasting of a certain goalie by a certain fan got really old last year, this site is not reserved for those who played the game to express their opinions. There are lot of people who know an awful lot about the game and never played. Elitism has no place here.

It's not appropriate to rip a player on at any level as far as I'm concerned. It's fair to be critical, but blasting doesn't even belong on an NHL board. (I'm sure some Canucks fans are not very happy with their goalie right now)

"Blasting" of the level you mentioned, simply makes the "whiner" look like a jerk, discrediting them and nullifying their "comments" - often times leading to sympathy and support for the very person they are attacking. Extremism in anything is seldom appreciated (want to hear any more Brucy compliants ;) ).

Re: 2011 Division III Commitments

Gotta say do see a lot of " blasting " of the refs.....;-))))...whats the rules on that??
