2011 Division III Commitments

Re: 2011 Division III Commitments

LF's recruits look decent. with a new coach, they may be a surprise this year.

They better address their defense and goaltending first. IIRC the last two classes have produced an awful lot of forwards, which is fine, but they've been very thin on the blue line and goal, which have yielded too many goals the past two seasons.

Re: 2011 Division III Commitments

very tru. they took an interesting route recruiting this year with many prep school kids. should be a few more kids added when the new coach arrives.

Re: 2011 Division III Commitments

I've only had a look at Lake Forest for a few games the past two seasons. The first year it jumped out immediately that they needed help defensively, as they surrendered 21 goals in a weekend at Arrington. One of those games, Adrian scored 11 goals and didn't look good at all, believe it or not. LFC's scoring was fine, I guess, but when the defense and goaltending gets torched like they did, it doesn't much matter. Last year I remember reading their commitment list and noticing that they did not bring in a single defenseman, and picked up a goaltender who transfer from Adrian that gave up horrific rebounds. This year it appears that they're not bringing much on the defensive side again.

As for bringing in the prep school kids, I'm not sold on that route, but I don't wish to comment further until I see them. The MCHA has gotten much better the past two years, and I would expect that to continue with the AQ now in play.

ya that is true. they brought in a defenseman, however, he was later released from the team. The goaltending situation needs improvement. I expect the 2 main goalies to be Sullivan and Stuart this year. However, Erney was impressive when he played. There old goalies from '09 were easily both D1 players, and helped out the team. Hopefully, this will be a good year for Forester hockey

Re: 2011 Division III Commitments

this year lake forest has exactly 7 defenseman, since Brown left.
Andrew Rocca-OJHL-will be a junior
Justin Crawford-OJHL-will be a junior
David Sharpe-GOJHL-will be a sophmore
Matt Davis-MPHL-will be a sophmore
Joel Gard-OJHL-will be a senior
Chad Thompson-GOJHL-will be a senior
Ben Finney-NCAA D1-will be a senior

They dont look bad on paper, bur some of them did not play much this year. should be interesting to see how it pans out. I imagine Gard will be the top defenseman, with Thompson and Sharpe

Re: 2011 Division III Commitments

Jonathon LaRose back for another go around with Amherst. It'd be interesting to know where he's been playing between what will now be his third time around with a D3 program? Good for him, I'm sure Amherst aint cheap - even if you are a gifted, foreign goaltender...

Amherst is well worth attending with or without hockey. I wonder if he will play much.
