Go "WhoeverplaysthewinnerintheirnextgamesothattheBig10hasnoat-largecandidatewithlessthanthreelossessothata1-lossStanfordteamlooksmoredesirabletotheFiesta Bowl"!

You're rooting for Nebraska to lose a game or win the conference. Right now, the early odds on choice for the Fiesta would be Oklahoma-Nebraska.

What would be awesome is if Northwestern and Illinois both qualify for a bowl, and both get to play on New Years Day.

Whereas Boise plays in either the Poinsettia or vegas bowl- both before Christmas :)

Or because he only considered Minnesota and Wisconsin, and he likely wouldn't play much at Wisconsin.

He also visited Iowa State, Iowa, and Nebraska.

I think he felt at Wisconsin he'd be handing the ball off a ton, as that's how their offense is built right now.

He committed too early, IMHO. He's having an unreal year this year and likely would've been looked at much more.

The thing with Hoke and his staff is his assistants, particularly Mattison. Mattison's defense has gone from last year's 110 ranked D to ranked 17th this year. That's one hell of an improvement.

Exile, the winner of UM/NU is one win from an at large birth assuming MSU doesn't **** the bed.

You would have to think that Alabama/Stanford would be Sugar and Nebraska/OU would be Fiesta. There's a ton of people that want OU/Nebraska.

Yup. That's all Russell Wilson has been doing this season.

Other than Wilson, a standout transfer, who in the last decade has been much more than a game manager or relied upon for being efficient? Tolzien? Bollinger? Sorgi? I don't know.

Plus, he committed last February, prior to Wilson's success, the fact Wilson would even be playing football still, etc.

Ha, yeah, I know what you mean, I just had to jump all over that.

I also think the causality may be backwards in your argument though. It's not that Wisconsin's offense is only for game managers, it's that the game managers Wisconsin gets at QB shape the offense. As this season is showing, when there is a QB with the talent, it can be a pretty good offense for a QB to work in.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

Columbia's band has been banned by their athletic department from performing at their last home game, as punishment for singing alternate lyrics to their fight song that made fun of their football team. ("We always lose, by a lot and sometimes by a little" was the snippet I read.) In fairness, I'd be pretty upset too if my school had just given up 62 points to Cornell.

I think that it goes both ways. UW had a run first based offense because they didn't have a game changing QB, but UW couldn't get a game changing QB because they had a run first offense. Hopefully, given what Wilson has done this year it will show other potential top QBs that you can excel in front of a NFL-type O-line and with a powerful set of RBs. UW has one of the most efficient and balanced offenses in all of college football this year.

I'm pretty sure the Tech pep band got yelled at a few years ago because after even mildly embarrassing losses, some in the band would play the muppet's theme while us students/alumni sand this wonderful verse:
Why do we always come here
I guess we'll never know
It's like a kind of torture
To have to watch the show
Ah, the memories :D

Verbal offers ain't worth diddly, all they're really good for is letting the other schools know who they gotta beat out to win the rights to a kid on Signing day.

This is a very good statement, and I agree it goes both ways. It will be interesting to see what kind of QBs Wisconsin recruits the next couple years, particularly the 2012 and 2013 classes.

A few weeks ago I read an article in one of the Twin Cities' papers that specified a significant player in his decision was that Wisconsin already had a verbal from the Concord De La Salle QB who, for what it's worth, is a four-star recruit. Not sure where the MN kid is getting rated but I did check out some video and imo he's definitely the real deal.

Shouldn't have had to look very far seeing the Concord kid has been getting trumpeted plenty.

Game of the Week: Maine vs New Hampshire :D Comcast SportsNet (ch 630 on DirecTV) at Noon.
If Maine wins they get at least a share of the CAA title!

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

They will after Georgia Southern knocks off Alabama tomorrow ;)
If THAT was to happen, World War Z would break out in Alabama.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm just going to go out to my garage to make sure that all of my zombie slicing and dicing tools are all nice and sharp still. ;)

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

We're 5:30 away from LSU and Alabama being #1 and #2 in the BCS again...

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

What is ISU doing? Should have called a timeout after that 3rd down stop...
