Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

He didn't signal for a fair catch in the way that is required because he didn't wave his hand in the air back and forth. I'm just not convinced his intent was dirty.

I think he did, just way earlier about as soon as the ball was kicked.

Not that it really matters, because he got leveled a full second before the ball hit the ground. So even if by some chance he didn't signal a fair catch, it was still an illegal hit. Wade probably is an idiot just by virtue of being an SEC football player, but that doesn't excuse the dirtiness of the play, either.

Not to defend Wade either, as it was a stupid play, but the returner didn't give a true fair catch signal, and he starts running up the field.

He got hit before the ball was ever close to him - he wasn't running up field, he was attempting to catch the farking ball.

Sure makes you wonder where all of that Alabama SEC football money is going.... Should be more than enough to help UAB's BB team and UAH's hockey team, or just let them use their own darned money.

Thinking about it more, based on all of these moves for new conferences, there's a WHOLE lot of money floating around college football. Where's it going?

I assume even my Michigan team is one of the few profitable ones. Outside of the new big screen TV's- where's all of that going? How could we possibly be short for a new BB stadium? Or why are there not plans for a whole new, state of the art Yost (not that I want one, but with the massive volume of $$ I keep hearing, at least someone should have mentioned one)?

How in the world does UA-T make massive amounts of money on FB, but UAB and UAH stuggle- all within the same system? What does UA-T want with the money? AD getting paid under the table?

I know we joke about player money, but even that...

Honestly? To the swimmers, cross country runners, baseball players, and the rest of the non-revenue sports. Scholarship costs add up. Yeah, it's essentially the right hand paying the left, but it is what it is.

It would be interesting to see just how expensive the factory schools' revenue sports are, though, and what percentage of the take gets sucked right back into the program. UT may be pulling in a ton of money, but it also has to be costly to run the second-best professional football program in the state. (Sorry Cowboys.)

Hookers and hush money aint cheap. Just ask the state leg.

That has been happening LOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGG before all of this new revenue has been coming in. It's not as if a whole bunch of new scholarhisp atheletes have been jumping on the band wagon- Michigan has added maybe 2 varsity sports over the past few years, none of which can account for the massive increase of revenue over the past few years. 10 years ago, B1G schools did without the extra +$20M of BTN, each. I don't see ANY B1G school adding $20M (annually) of new programs. PSU could be considered that they did, but instead of current high revenue, they got a big donor to pay for the new hockey program.

Especially at a school like mine, where the AD discovered how to market the Michigan brand 40 years ago to make money and support the rest of the programs.

The new TV and BCS money is a LOT more than that.

For Alabama- has UA-T added any non revenue scholarhip programs? We know that UA-H is subtracting one. How many new athletic programs started at UT-A with the Longhorn Network? I'd lean toward the zero side, at the moment.

This is a whole new level of revenue- outside of tickets, extra stuff being sold, CBS giving great $$ to SEC schools, or BTN making big $$ for all of the B1G schools, ESPN hanging money to Texas....

Way more than can be accounted for by the non-revenue student atheletes.

There's SO much new money out there, teams are doing whatever it takes to move around.

Right, and the returner has the right to catch the football, so it was 100 percent illegal. I'm just trying to think of how Wade could've seen it.

Thursday..I for some odd reason am feeling optomistic about the Hawkeyes Saturday..they always play tough at Kinnick Stadium.

Some milestones that I really hope can be reached Saturday:

1. First and foremost, bowl eligibility with a win.
2. Marvin McNutt can eclipse the 1000 yard reciving mark in Game #9, with a 146+ yard performance.

Sign idea for Stanford-Oregon game: LUCK > TEBOW, take a picture of myself holding it while Tebowing.

Though it's not until the 12th, will the meme be dead by then?

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

Boston College players talk a lot of **** for a bad, bad football team.

I would say that it would have good odds of still having legs by then. The trick is going to be getting one of those in on Gameday itself, as you know they've got some poor lackey who's going to have to be scanning the signs to make sure they don't have anything the Network doesn't want to have seen. The trick would be slipping signs pass him having them with something else on them, then unleashing your X>Tebow right when a camera is panning the crowd.

I may be new at this, but isn't the point to put "something really crappy" > Tebow? I don't really think it works as well to put a darn fine QB in there - JMHO.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

I don't see how LSU/Alabama can live up to the hype this weekend.

It feels like its going to be a 10-6 type game.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

I'm not even going to watch the LSU -bama game. Whats the point? They'll probably find a way to screw about 4 schools over and have these 2 to play again in January and this game will be completely meaningless.

You could watch it to simply enjoy watching 2 quality teams play. Worrying about the BCS is a waste of energy, and precludes you from seeing good football.

Still won't watch it. I'm not that interested in watching a team from Alabama and a team from Louisiana play football. I have no interest in either, and I'm not that big of a football fan to sit home and watch that game instead of going out and doing something.

They're too busy looking for Dan Patrick-related signs.
