Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

So would me winning the lottery and hooking up with a super model, which is equally as likely. ;)

You need to be more optimistic.

The Gophers have a much better chance of getting to the B1G title game. ;)

Eh, supermodels must get drunk and sloppy, and lower their standards a bit every once in a while too, right? I mean, this is something that I really want to believe.

Interesting little article I found. :D

Maybe I'm not as nuts as you think.
Although you can never go wrong betting on the corruption of money in college athletics, in one regard at least I think the conspiracy theory is wrong: no way is ESPN trying to subvert a playoff. That would be their ultimate pay day. If ESPN could dictate everything according to their terms, there would be a 16-team four week playoff based on some sort of trumped-up "ranking" that just happened to correspond to their primary audience demographics. The mid majors would still get effed except for one Boise-esque show pony that would be paraded around to "prove" the system wasn't rigged. But other than that it would be the major market factory schools every year. Their biggest problem would, ironically, probably be over-representation from the SEC region.

That's because they still have games against MSU, MI, and @NE left and all three already have one conference loss, beat all three of them and IA will hold the tiebreaker against all three.
Well I know that, I guess I was eluding more to the fact that we have losses to Iowa State and Minnesota, and we can still make the Rose Bowl. Weird right?:p

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

There are a lot of crazy people who want Ferentz fired. Last year was Iowa's biggest opportunity to cushion themselves in the upper echelon of the Big Ten, as they had OSU with their problems, a stranglehold on Penn State, Michigan's downturn, etc. Not to mention, Iowa had the highest expectations in my lifetime, with the 22 of 24 starters of the 2009 Magical team coming back, Rose Bowl expectations and even possible National Title Hopes..and now we're staring at a season that we could seriously lose 5 straight and finish 5-7.

I really think the Mike Stoops thing needs to happen at the end of the season. I love Norm, and he has earned 100% respect from me, but if his health is now not letting him do the full effective job he has done, then he has to retire. Mike Stoops would give a little bit of fire that many Hawkeye fans want to see, and he clearly wants to coach defense, as evident by this quote...

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/ua/articles/2011/10/30/20111030arizona-wildcats-football-former-coach-mike-stoops.html

Stoops, 49, says his next likely coaching step will be as a college defensive coordinator, which could then lead back into a head coaching position. "My passion is coaching defense," he said.
"That is where my heart has been. As a head coach, it's hard to be everything to everybody. I have certainly enjoyed coaching defense and the intimacy you have with a group of guys that you don't really have as a head coach."

Two years ago this week, DJK was on the cover of Sports Illustrated and Iowa was 9-0.

Two years later, the Jihadic Wing is calling for Kirk's head.

Two and a half years ago, right before Iowa beat PSU on a last second field goal in Kinnick, the Jihadic Wing wanted Kirk Ferentz fired.
A very, very interesting stat..yes, I really do have a crazy passion and obsession with Iowa Football..

From 1999 to 2005, Ferentz’s first seven seasons as Iowa’s coach, the Hawkeyes were 18-0 straight-up when they were favored by 10 or more points. Since 2006, they are 19-9. That isn’t especially good. It looks even worse when you compare it to the same records of the other Big Ten programs as double-digit favorites since 2006:
Wisconsin 31-0
Penn State 29-0
Indiana 6-0
Ohio State 42-2
Michigan 21-1
Nebraska 29-3
Northwestern 8-1 .
Michigan State 16-2
Purdue 14-2
Illinois 12-2
Iowa 19-9
Minnesota 2-2

No way, a Priceless-mocking-Gophers post.

Actually, I was mocking goldy, but thanks for playing.

And have you read this thread? It's not like it's a Gopher love fest in here...

Which justifies your obvious vendetta?

Look, the Gophers deserve ridicule on occasion. Your skirt-laced whining goes beyond.

It's laughable that you harp on this "vendetta" I supposedly have. It's very cute. Kinda stalkerish, but you seem harmless. :)

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

No more weird than you actually having the vendetta. And one need not visit the threads to stalk, you post way too often for that to be necessary.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

The SEC only suspends Marquel Wade one game for his dirty hit on the player from Vanderbilt. I would be upset, but then I realize it's the SEC and the kid is going to be rewarded for trying to cheat.

It wasn't dirty, it was stupid. There is a difference. It's clear he thought the ball would be caught and he celebrated up until the point he realized what had happened. I realize everyone needs a villian but jebus...
