2011-2012 Season Schedules

Re: 2011-2012 Season Schedules

The following teams I do not have listed as having complete schedules. I am not including exempt games within this list, only the 34 that count against the NCAA limit:

ATLANTIC (east, west)
Army - Non-Conference Only, schedule officially announced :(
Bentley - League Games Only
Holy Cross
Air Force
Mercyhurst - League Games Only

ECAC (ivy, non-ivy): Exhibition Games Only

HOCKEY EAST
Massachusetts Amherst - Non-Conference Only
Merrimack - Non-Conference Only, schedule officially announced :(

CCHA
Ohio State - Non-Conference Only; schedule officially announced :(

WCHA (by pod)
North Dakota - Non-Conference Only

INDEPENDENT
Alabama Huntsville

The schedule is available at the following link:

Just updated spreadsheet with Boston College games. Information was shared with the team parents by a very reliable source in the hockey program. There was the 'TENTATIVE 2011-2012 schedule. Dates/games are subject to change' disclaimer so take it for what its worth.

So long as all the dates fit, tentative is better than nothing. Many thanks.

Re: 2011-2012 Season Schedules

If I had to make a guess on UVM's remaining games, I'd say October 28th/29th for Merrimack (both at home), and then sometime in early January for UML. I won't stick it in the schedule yet because this my only basis is free weekends and they could split the entire series.

Re: 2011-2012 Season Schedules

No Harvard/Brown scrimmage this year.

Did you hear that somewhere or are you going by the composite schedule? If the latter, then I'd expect it to still be on-don't remember ever seeing that game scheduled. In fact, the only reason I found out when it was last year was I was down at the athletics complex for a completely different reason and saw Brown's bus pull in.

Of course, if you heard that somewhere, then that would be a different kettle of fish.

EDIT to Add- Also, the ECAC site does not appear to be correct in terms of Harvard's Canadian exhibition game, as McGill has a game that night in CIS play. Harvard is on Western Ontario's schedule for 10/23 though.

The latter is the case. Thank you for the information regarding Western Ontario as well.

El Bump-o. UND was supposed to release last week, but did not do so because they couldn't decide which team was the cupcake for their first IceBreaker game. Hopefully this week...

Re: 2011-2012 Season Schedules

Thanks for all the work FlagDude. I assume you are going to try something similar for next year, with the same formatting. So, a FYI. Some of the WCHA teams are listed as having 26 conference games (BSU, DU, MTU, UMD, UMTC, UND) . That has to be 28, right? I suppose there is something missing in the formula, but I don't understand it well enough to try to fix it without wrecking it. Is there a school missing in the Row 100 formulas?

Thanks again.

I'm happy to put this together. I actually did this as a learning experience for myself to find out more about how teams do scheduling, who they normally play, when are league games typically played, that kind of stuff. I'm not sure if I will do this again next year, but it may not be too bad of an idea, since there's much more to learn (like tendencies between years).

As for the WCHA (and CCHA for that matter) teams, some are listed as 26, and some as 28. The reason for that is because of how my formula handles who is or isn't a conference opponent, with specific regards to the Alaska exemption. You'll notice that anyone listed as 26 is playing two conference games in Alaska. When I first developed this in OpenOffice, "Alaska Anchorage (Al)" is counted under the comparison for "Alaska Anchorage", whereas on Google Spreadsheets, it is not. I've been considering different ways to go about this, even creating another tab and listing all of the teams and their respective conferences in there, including a second one for Alaska to signify the exemption. This is the reason why I have interesting listings for team names, like "Michigan Ann Arbor" instead of "Michigan", or "Massachusetts Amherst" instead of "UMASS".

Re: 2011-2012 Season Schedules

Sorry, I missed that Mankato also is listed at 26. I would have figured it out then. Thanks again.

Re: 2011-2012 Season Schedules

So yesterday, I decided to take a break from creating magical methodologies (read: doing math) and put together a new algorithm for In Conference games. This time, I put all the teams into a separate sheet and included Alaska listed with an exemption. It works here. I'm sure if you were to export this to OpenOffice, you'd have to fiddle with your settings a little bit to get it to work there, but it should be OK. Be aware that I'm the only one able to edit the teams, so as much as someone would want to put a team into another league, you can't.
