Chicago.

Comcast stated on one of the local stations last night that only "up to 80% of our subscribers in the Chicagoland region have the ability to watch versus."

RCN cable subscribers within the city do NOT get Versus as part of their package.

WOW cable subscribers are hit and miss if Versus is offered.

Wow. I really hate being right so darn much. :D

Well, the city is only three years removed from being 29th in attendance. Cable companies are notoriously slow, so they're probably just realizing that people actually like hockey now.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

Shawn Thornton is getting a two-year contract from the Bruins worth a little over $800K a year. Believe it or not, that's actually a raise of about $300K per year for him.

My question: WHY?

Jack Edwards would tell you it's because Thornton is "the most underrated player in the NHL".

The Bruins management, in response to years of criticism for having tight purse strings, has overcompensated, and is now over-spending.

That said, I'm glad to see S. Thornton back. He's a tough player/enforcer, and one of the few players to put in a consistent effort this past season; he's become a fan favorite (I know, bad reason to re-sign a player).

Honestly, I don't think it's that bad a move relative to some of the others they've made this past year or so (Ference, Tim Thomas).

Here's my thing though, why give a raise to a guy like that when there's 100 other guys anywhere else you can pay $500K to and get the same production? I know the fans like him and all that, but there's no need to give someone like that a multi-year contract or a raise or both.

Agree with the overall sentiment, though I will say I know a lot of Bruins' fans that don't care for Thornton. Their main commplaints are that he is a terrible body checker and is too much of a gentlemen when it comes to his job as enforcer.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

The Vs. feed has gone out on Boston. Awesome. Updates on goals please.

*sigh*

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

Philly had no shots for over 10 minutes, but their last two shots now are goals as Carle got one off a bad clearing attempt by the same chicago D who had his pocket picked for a goal earlier. 2-0 Flyers.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

NHL League Office has clearly determined that this series needs to go back to Chicago even. Flyers hack and slash with impunity while Chicago gets called for same.

Its like watching the fricking NBA.

Reffing has been below par so far this game. The Interference call in the first minute was questionable...based on that it didnt have anything to do with the play, and the "High Stick" which lead to the first goal was horrible.

Chicago climbing back in...but Philly just scored again. 3-1 Flyers.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

Someone needs to wake up the Hawks in their own zone. How in heck did they lose Giroux??

Thanks. Who scored for Chicago?

Can I now go on a Vs. sucks rant since I can't watch the game!?

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

If Chicago was as good as people were saying they were before this series started, they would have no problem overcoming iffy officiating. Instead, their special teams have been terrible. The Flyers are absolutely shredding them on the powerplay.

Bomber - they didn't say who got the Chicago goal. It came from the point but looked like it changed direction - my guess is Hossa tipped it (or whoever that forward was).

Edit: Chicago goal was Sharp from Keith.

I'm now listening to the WGN feed and following on the computer. This is like following BU road games.

Perhaps I'll thank Vs. the way the Hawks are playing. :(

"...the Heritage Classic takes the game back to OUR roots."

Oh puh-leez -- you wouldn't know **** from shinola when it comes to the roots of hockey, you little twit!

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

According to the WGN guys, Pronger getting away with murder. Yet another Flyer power play.

He's probably only getting away with attempted murder. Either way the Chicago PP is pretty weak in this series for some reason...
