Despite some rowdy student objections, athletic programs at Delta State University do not use the student-chosen, sub-mascot, Fighting Okra. The Fighting Okra, the most vicious of all vegetables, was created by a band of students at DSU in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. While some on campus embrace the scary veggie, DSU Athletics does not. Our programs have always been, and will continue to be, the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen. Note: UMD fans say they don't care about the football team and then constantly whine about the officiating. Every playoff game constant complaints.

MIAA refs this game.

Start of the fourth. DSU should be up another 6 points if they had just kicked some field goals.

This crap is a gong show. Subpar officiating, special teams, some obvious DII football play, in that it's worse than watching Akron vs. Buffalo, tie game on a FG that was penalized twice.

The refs appear to have failed in their quest to get Delta State their second national championship.

Called my parents after the game. They said the UMD radio guy lost his connection, and finished the game by calling into the station on his cell phone.

Congrats to UMD.
