2010 Census - Fill it out, send it back

Re: 2010 Census - Fill it out, send it back

I'm a relatively anti-government guy, but I took a look at the 10 questions and really can't see much of problem with them. Certainly not as invasive as some make it seem.

Re: 2010 Census - Fill it out, send it back

Got my form today. Filled it out, back in the mail. :)

How can you answer questions about where you are on April 1 when it didn't happen yet? This confused me ten years ago, and it confuses me now.

Do Genealogy for a hobby and this census is going to be useless when people try to use it for research when it is opened in 72 years!

Not sure what all the ranters are ranting about as far as privacy. Previous census forms have some really interesting stuff on them like marital status, how old you were when married, how long you were married, if you immigrated, when you did and when you were naturalized, employment, did you own a radio etc.

Having looked at a fair amount of census forms from the 1800-1930s it is amazing how many people were in the same place or close by for many years. Bet that isn't true now.

That's because you're old and everything confuses you.

Ditto. Though I don't think they need to collect data on race.

I'm with you. I was looking for something in the instructions that said not to mail it back until April 1. While I am reasonably certain the population in my house is not going to increase between now and then. Tragedies happen and it could decrease. :o

If you are trying to calculate medical costs you can use this as some races are more at risk for things than others. I wonder what the reason for asking that was years ago.

NPR had something on this last week. Pretty interesting how the percentage of 'mixed race' has gone up exponentially. There was a huge stink in the latino/hispanic/south american contingent regarding what choices there were.

Really? All I've been hearing is how everyone was supposed to receive their forms yesterday but that no one would get them until today. So I guess some did actually arrive yesterday then?

Re: 2010 Census - Fill it out, send it back

We got two census packets at our condo. One addressed to Unit 4 and one to Unit 12. Our address is the latter, but according to the county our unit is the fourth unit in its building so all of our property tax info says Unit 4. I haven't looked inside the census packet yet, but I presume I can just toss one of them.

Filled mine out and send it back today.

Very simple...why don't people do this again?
