Last fall/early winter I received a census form that asked a lot of detailed questions regarding our household. I was suspicious and looked it up and it turned out to be legit. Although it wasn't really intrusive, it took me quite a while to fill it out and there were a couple of mailings and a phone call to insure that I did it. For some reason I thought that would let me off the hook for this one since I already did the earlier one. Apparently I have to fill out the short form as well.
Still have to wonder if the law the way it's written is unconstitutionally broad. But, that's more research than I have the capability of doing right now.
Hey! Not everyone who lives in the south is a rednecks who cannot talk and just want to leech off of the government. (some of us support ourselves and can usually spell.It's another thing to whine and posture about, they should be happy.
I got a visit from the in-person census guy about 25 years ago in Boston. The "long interview" (and it was long, about 30 minutes) was fascinating in the kinds of questions they were asking.
I can't imagine being one of those guy now. They can't be paid enough to have to listen to the barbershop b.s. they must put up with from the "I hates the Gummint, where's my check?" types, assuming they're not actually assaulted by Beck's brown shirts.
Just under-count the south and save the country a lot of trouble.
