Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

There are many respectable umass lowell hockey fans, but please, for the love of god, shut UMLgoon and patronick's yappers or I will never leave your thread alone. They persistently post unwarranted, evil, berating messages in our thread (vermont's thread) with no reason and no provocation. No Vermont fan ever posts in your thread, and we consistently see these immature blurts from these two goons. I wish they'd stay in their own thread, but it just hasn't happened (even when we've tried to ignore them) I respect the rest of you, but these two are pieces of ****. I wish your team the best for the rest of the season, I really do.

On this day of harvest celebration and being thankful for our families and the resources afforded to us in New England compared to other parts of this country, I have one simple request for all.

Can't we all just get along?? :)

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. See you at the rink tomorrow.

UML Riverhawks on their Facebook posted a new intro video today. I checked it out. Not a big fan of it at all IMO. Mixing Rhianna and Jay-z in it just doesn't sound good. Here is the video if you are interested in checking it out.

That is quite terrible.

edit: I hate to remind those in the front office, this is a hockey program and not a pop event. Disrespect yourself at your own peril.

I liked the original video they had, and I really like the video they're using at the end of the game to get the crowd into it. To me, pointless to change.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

I'm starting to get like I did my UConn days... if we're going to lose, lets lose by a dozen so that something comes of losing.

I must say that was one of the worst "performances" I have seen from a UML team in a long time. Boulanger was just plain awfule and could not make a routine save. Carr tried his best to stop the bleeding but his defense never did clear anything from out in front. The season is snowballing downhill at a rapid clip with no end in sight.

Tough game all around. I was surprised with speed of some of the MSU players (Davis, Jokinen, Sackrison). Reminded me of the years they had guys like Kalinski and Mick Berge on the team. My buddy got a Maverick puck from their equipment guy, so at least he got somewhat of a smile out of it!

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

I watched a total of three hockey games today. One was bad on NESN early this afternoon, one I'll get to, and the other was flat out abysmal.

Words or one-liners can't describe the garbage that was displayed at the Tsongas Center for the last 39 minutes of the contest. Getting outscored 7-1 in that time frame in your home rink to a team that has a similar record is an absolute embarrassment.

Granted, everyone knows that these kids are mainly freshmans and sophomores, but either they are not buying the system, or they are not talented enough to play this system in Division I. Quite frankly, you can roll a pair of dice to figure out which is worse. I think you can safely hit the panic button now.

It pains me to think that good D-I hockey in the Merrimack Valley has shifted ten miles east. That game was the good hockey game of the day where Merrimack pretty much handled BC in even strength today including beating John Muse on two breakaways. Merrimack also outdrew Lowell tonight in attendance. It seems that these two programs are heading in opposite directions.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

Dumb question. Haven't been up to Lowell yet and needed a reminder on directions, but google & mapquest both try to send me some weird way that doesn't use the Lowell Connector. Question - from 93North do I take 495 North or 495 South to get to the Lowell Connector? The rest of the directions I'm fine on.

Thanks.

93 North to 495 South to Lowell Connector to Exit 5B Thorndike St then follow directions (road signs to Tsongas).

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

Good first period. UGLY the rest of the way. Nothing else to say there that hasn't already been said.

I don't know how to do this, but the team HAS GOT to learn to play with a lead. You know it's bad when they take the lead and you get that oh-no-here-it-comes feeling of apprehension gripping you.

Hopefully the team has recovered from all the turkey it ate Thursday night, it realizes that, even against a team with a similar record, a full 60 minutes is needed to be competitive, and it understands that defense is a big part of hockey. There were a couple of fluky goals that Boulanger wants back, but the amount of break aways and odd man rushes were too much to keep it close. Hitting the crossbar on the penalty shot just added insult to injury.

Like Patman said, hopefully getting blown out makes the team get more out of the game than a close loss would have so they can turn the corner earlier and start winning. They have shown flashes of good play before, they just need to extend to play well for a whole game. The games next week against UNH and UMass are incredibly important if the team wants to salvage any chance this season.

Got the terrible loss out of their system, so hopefully they hit it hard tonight!

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

Feel like I've been saying this a lot the last couple of seasons, but man ... I walked out of there embarrassed.

93 North to 495 South to Lowell Connector to Exit 5B Thorndike St then follow directions (road signs to Tsongas).

For all that travel on the Lowell Connector take note that the Lowell cops have placed that road on sting. There are cops all of the time between exit 4-6 behind the blind curve.

In general, the most direct route from 93 North/495 South is taking Route 133 into downtown Lowell and avoiding the extra 7-8 miles. However, unless you are familar with going this way, one should take the Connector.

Personally I find 93N to 95S to 3N to Connector to Thorndike the fastest, but either way works I guess.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

I go 93 to 110 at Methuen. Go round the roundabout, under the highway and pick up 110 to Lowell. Go along the river until you get to second bridge, quite a ways, (Aiken st~ signs for Lalacheur) take any of the roads left after you get over the bridge and you can see the Tsongas.

I think that is probably how I got lost a few times several years ago. I'll go the easy way.

Aiken st is actually the third bridge.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

Listening to the pre-game... Blaise just gave the most cliche-ridden pre-game discussion I've ever heard. Less Svengali and more hockey coach.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

Well, a better game to watch. Other than the own goal (again, are you kiddin' me??) they looked much better and actually played with some intensity.
