The number of high sticks that went uncalled in that game was amazing.
It was, yes. The phantom goaltender interference power play the Rangers got at least helped to balance it out.

Terry Pegula told me it would cost a lot more to buy the Leafs than the Sabres.

If this story in La Presse is correct, he wasn't kidding.

UPDATE:

Someone tell these people how to market. Say you are selling the LEAFS (Leaves) for 1.3 billion...if someone comes close to that...tell them for X amount more you can have the MLS team and the Raptors.

Truly sad news for Mr. Pegula and the Sabres nation

Rick Martin, the first 50-goal scorer for the Buffalo Sabres and a member of their famed French Connection line, died Sunday.

New York State Police Capt. Steven Nigrelli said Martin was pronounced dead at a suburban Buffalo hospital at 1 p.m., about a half hour after the car he was driving crossed the centre line on the road, rolled along the shoulder and struck a utility pole before coming to rest against a tree.

Nigrelli said witnesses spotted the 59-year-old Martin driving with his head slumped and eyes closed before the crash, which occurred in the Buffalo suburb of Clarence. Nigrelli said it appeared Martin had "an undetermined medical emergency" before the accident.

The accident preceded by a heart attack, according to numerous local media reports. No one else was hurt.

Sid skates

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby skated Monday for the first time since being sidelined with post-concussion symptoms, the team said.

Crosby, who has missed 29 games, skated for about 15 minutes in full gear on Monday morning, including stickhandling and shooting drills, the team said.

Crosby, who was unable to play the All-Star Game because of his symptoms, has been out since he was hit headfirst into the boards by Tampa Bay defenseman Victor Hedman in a Jan. 5 game. He also had absorbed a blindside hit to the head from then-Washington forward David Steckel during the Jan. 1 Winter Classic outdoors game.

Last weekend, Crosby's father and his agent refuted a report that the Penguins captain was considering retirement.

Latest on the death of Rick Martin:

An autopsy performed on Rick Martin has determined that former Buffalo Sabres star forward died of hypertensive heart disease.

New York State Police issued the findings of the autopsy performed Monday, a day after Martin was found unresponsive after the car he was driving left the road and struck a utility pole in suburban Buffalo.

Re: 2010-2011 NHL Season Part II - Concussions Are Serious Business, Savvy?

Can someone explain to me what they're talking about with the issues of stancion-less glass?

Re: 2010-2011 NHL Season Part II - Concussions Are Serious Business, Savvy?

It doesn't give as much (less flexing). The seamless glass is wider (about two, almost three regular panels) and has a deeper pocket to sit in (from what I've read) to support itself. It doesn't give as much as the regular panels do.

For the sides of the rink, I've read that they're okay with having the seamless glass. It's the seamless glass on the end boards used by Montreal, Colorado, and four other rinks, that they're talking about eliminating.

There's virtually no give in the seamless glass. The panels are secured by plexiglass clamps at the top and as aparch says, they sit in a deep pocket. It's been compared to running into a brick wall.

BTW, the Chara hit will be a topic on O'Reilly's 'Is it Legal' segment in the next half hour. This should be interesting!

Re: 2010-2011 NHL Season Part II - Concussions Are Serious Business, Savvy?

Dallas plays San Jose half a dozen times a year. You think by now they'd know better than to skate near Douglas Murray. But instead, not only do they do that, they then have Steve "I wish I was as obnoxious as Sean Avery" Ott pick a fight with him, get beat down, then their fans whine about how hard Murray hits.

*shakes head*

Yeah, you don't mess with Murray.

Re: 2010-2011 NHL Season Part II - Concussions Are Serious Business, Savvy?

All I see in the related videos are about umberger getting knocked the F out. halarious ( boyes, campbell, stuart etc) The dude is a magnet for hits

That Campbell one from the playoffs a few years ago was a pretty rugged hit. I think RJ was out there for a bit.

Marchand phone hearing with the league tomorrow. Heatley's is tonight, if I believe, as San Jose plays again tonight.

Re: 2010-2011 NHL Season Part II - Concussions Are Serious Business, Savvy?

Sharks are off tonight. They played the last two days.

Re: 2010-2011 NHL Season Part II - Concussions Are Serious Business, Savvy?

Campbell is going to have suspend a Bruin at some point, just to show he's not playing favorites because Junior is on the team.

I await the protests in Columbus.

Won't be Campbell making the call. Supposedly, NHL VP Mike Murphy is now dealing with any issues involving the Bruins because of the father-son situation with the Campbells.
