2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

Re: 2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

Look through last seasons playoff threads. I guarantee there were at least two people saying that.

Edit: I went back and searched through it, there was a lot of angst all around, but I guess I was mistaken in saying at least two people. One person did post this gem though:
That's different though, that's a fan lashing out and basically saying "well f you, i hope you die" after what was an embarrassing situation. And frankly, I doubt the post actually wanted that, I think they were likely just angry.

Re: 2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

ilya kovalchuk is a minus 29. That is brutal.

You're shocked by this? Did you NOT see him play eight seasons in Atlanta, where he was plus just ONCE? For his Thrashers career he went: 594 games, 328 goals, 615 points, -84.

He also scored 115 PP goals, so deduct that from his goals. And take his three shorthanded goals away (and subtract three from -84), leaving Kovy with 210 even strength goals scored (5x5, 4x4, 3x3)

Minus 87 and he scored 210 goals. For every two goals he scored, he was on the ice for FIVE opponent goals.

And you're shocked he's racked up a minus 29 this season?

Kovalchuk doesn't play defense... he practically guides it to his own net like a parking attendant.

And this is made all the sweeter by the fact that his talents have been taken to the Devils! :D

Don't look now, but the Leafs have won 5 of 6 since New Year's Day. The march to the playoffs has begun!! :D

Karma, perhaps, that Wilson gets his 600th win in San Jose?

I can't believe I just heard Errey say on the Pens broadcast while talking about his concussion:

"They need to put a stop sign on the back of Sid's jersey - just like they do for the kids."

Whaaaa, whaaaa, whaaaa!

Being a Canadiens fan, I am stuck with the broadcast team for whomever they're playing almost every game. The Penguins team is definitely one of the worst ones I have heard...very little objectivity.

Agreed.

They are SERIOUSLY bad. I can't listen for more than 5 minutes, and I actually enjoy watching the Pens and like Crosby, but they are absolutely ridiculous.

Surprisingly, I have found the Florida duo quite good. No Idea who they are; but they were smart and balanced. I also think Pete Weber and Terry Crisp here in Nashville call a great game.

I think their color guy may be Denis Potvin (who, it goes without saying, sucks).

The Canucks have a guy from Brown. What's that about?

Steve Goldstein works with Potvin on TV. Former NHL player Randy Moller is the Panthers PBP radio voice.

Oh my. I hope Marc Staal froze some sperm, because Alex Burrows just speared him in the junk so hard that I'm not sure anything down there is going to work anymore.

What a game in Boston tonight, B's win a WILD one, 3 straight after that Montreal meltdown. They are playing with much more heart lately. :)

Weird game. The Bruins played the Flyers' game and surprisingly beat them at it...

What a great Rangers-Canucks game. Wow.

Tough loss for Cory Schneider (maybe the best backup in the league right now)

Also, what is going on with the Kings? Nice to see the Sharks struggling right now...

Re: 2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

Saw this in the Toronto Sun:

With 19-year-old goalie Robin Lehner making his first NHL start, the Senators provided more punch than they have all season.

In front of 8,670 witnesses at Nassau Coliseum, they snapped a six-game losing streak with a 6-4 victory over the Islanders.

Was there another blizzard on the island last night? Some college teams draw bigger crowds!

I was looking for Bruins-Islanders tickets online and figured they'd be easy to come by. The prices were ridiculous...what gives?

That wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting, but ya, if seen he would have gotten 2:00 for slashing. At least he didn't catch him with the blade...
