You thought this - this high upper-arms-to-jaw hit - was clean? Really?

skip to about 2:05 for a closer shot

Anyway line brawls are awesome and should happen more often.

freddy aimed for the top of the logo on the chest. lucic fell backward and the follow through ran high. good god already....

Goaltending was certainly not the name of the game in Buffalo tonight. 12 goals scored and the skaters went 5-for-6 in the shootout. But, a win is a win is a win.

Thomas has given up 5 shootout goals in his last 5 shooters faced. What is his problem?

watch it again and say that. He aimed high and caught Lucic right in the chin. This is exactly what the NHL has said they're trying to avoid - high/dangerous hits. This was no simple "hit him in the shoulder or chest and level him" move. This was a cheap shot in nearly any era.

He's 36, and despite playing great this season, is coming off hip surgery. This one was squarely on Clode's ****poor managing of the goaltending. Thomas has been ridden into the ground - he's been showing signs of fatigue for several games now (even mentioned it recently) - and Tuukka hasn't played in 2 weeks. How well do you expect either of these guys to play?

Claude has to go.

Julien bothers me. He should've been fired after the collapse last year. Tuukka's a solid goalie, who's been the victim of incredibly bad luck this year. He NEEDS to play more.

Considering how awful the Isles are, it seems that Roli has played quite well for his age. That said, Tampa must be preparing to unload at least one of the goalies they started the year with, assuming there haven't been injuries that I didn't notice.

Flyers waive Leighton

The Flyers waived goaltender Michael Leighton, general manager Paul Holmgren announced, meaning Philadelphia, tied for first place in the Atlantic Division with Pittsburgh, will go with Brian Boucher and Sergei Bobrovsky the rest of the way.

Leighton, who helped lead Philadelphia to the Stanley Cup Finals last June, underwent October back surgery and had only played in one game this season, a 7-4 win over the Kings in Los Angeles last week.

Isles beat Calgary but...

Surprise! DiPietro hurt again, lower body injury. He's like a walking glass statue.

He reminds me of Marian Gaborik's paper groin (he pulls his groin more than a chronic masturbator!)

If you ever want to know what "the rippin' and the tearin'" refers to, you could probably ask Rick DiPietro.

Eric Staal just BURIED Marc Staal on a hit that, if it wasn't from behind, was at least from 3/4 of the way behind. Good thing there aren't any big family-oriented holidays coming up anytime soon!

They'll mend fences over a drunk and disorderly night on Minnesota's North Shore this summer.

Heh.

Also, speaking of this game, Cam Ward and Henrik Lundqvist are putting on a goaltending clinic tonight. Good entertainment, if anyone is looking for something to watch and would get this on TV.

I was all excited for a Tampa Bay comeback when they made it 7-1. Then they gave up a four-on-one and Goligoski scored to make it 8-1. Alex is 1-3-4 in this game. Good for him.
