2010-11 Minnesota Gophers -- May, West Pursue Erie March

netter owns my soul

netter owns my soul

I'm anxious to hear comments from anyone who witnessed the game, either in person or online.
six words or less...

I underestimated Minnesota. Erickson, Kessel, Schoullis.

and...

West is still my favorite player.

also..

Faster than I remember. Stacked Defense.

finally..

Tomorrow should be more even score.

I was surprised at the score in this first game, even though it was obvious (to me at least) the Gophers are more talented (offensively) as a group than last year. West is amazing, we knew that, but having Schoullis back and the dynamic freshman Kessel will allow the Gophers to put added offensive pressure on the opposing defense. And there are at least a half-dozen others that will contribute as the season progresses.

But I totally agree that tomorrow's game will be much more competitive. Clarkson is too good to allow a sweep on their home ice, and Minny better be ready.

Re: 2010-11 Minnesota Gophers -- May, West Pursue Erie March

One of my Facebook friends and fellow GWH fans clued me in that I was called out in the Gophers' live blog...
A few Gopher faithful made it out to Potsdam. They have tried doing the Minnesota Rouser on the second goal, but with a bell and a very loud band, they were quickly put in their place. We need Crazy Dave to help us.
Not much I can do about that. It's Homecoming back in Minneapolis, and Alumni Band priorities typically trump road trips. :o I have the joy of getting up at 4:45 a.m. Saturday morning to check in at the TCF Bank Stadium before 6:15 a.m. for rehearsal. Yea!

Great job by the team tonight, though. Kessel with 4 points in her collegiate debut (at least the one that counted). Wow! :D

What a beutiful day. Open your eyes -> go to net -> check opening result -> behappy -> go to toalet -> enjoy breakfast -> start Saturday.

It was too late game. Started 2AM local time. Today much better. Almost prime time. SO nice to watch game from B2TV.

Clarkson Game 2 Live from Finland

Clarkson Game 2 Live from Finland

10:40PM here and after 1st 0-0. Pretty sound period. Neither of teams having a real scoring spot. Well Ericson hit the upper post but from goalie view it was clearly seen. Goaltenders are not tested yet. Both are giving some rebounds and I think goals will be a result from those. Clarkson looks very active and Gophers can not find they way to the net. Shots are mostly coming from blue line and there is no traffic in front of net. Get your bodies there. Minnesota Wild is in Helsinki now. Can not wait to see NHL live here. Wild vs Hurricanes. Wild players are going to traditional local Sauna this evening. That is going to be great fun.

Great job this weekend by the Gophers taking two on the road from a very good Clarkson team.

Sounded like Westy was shaken up on a play with a minute left. Hope she's alright.

From Scores and Highlights thread...
It's a nice weekend, to be sure, but I'm not sure how much it means. Clarkson graduated a lot of their scoring punch from last year, while I think 5 of the top 6 for the Gophs are back. Both teams have a talented freshman class, but I think the returning players for Minnesota have an edge. If they play again in 5 months, I'd guess that both teams will look quite a bit different. Still, 5-0, 3-0, I think we'd take that every time out, no questions asked. Way to go Gophers!:) I just hope Westy is okay ...
Fully agree with the last portions, ARM. Two wins on the road against nationally ranked opposition is a reason to be happy. :) Injury to Westy  ... not so happy about that, and hope it doesn't linger for any length of time. :(

Here's the link to the GopherSports.com recap.

And Ms. Kessel adds two more points to her four from Friday. :D

Sounds Messy. Is that the same Bridge that fell into the River a few years ago.?

Nope. The bridge that fell in the river is gone. This is the new one that replaced it. ;)

If they want to watch us play the Whitecaps and Wayne State, they are more than welcome.
