2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Hey, I don't know what happened there! I didn;t try to post it twice. I'm guessing I posted then went back to blackberry 45 minutes later and then refreshed page or something, and it just posted agian. not sure. I'm definitely not blacked out. in fact I had a good time tonight with a lady friend that i havent talked to in a while. A lady frined that DL knows, well knows through facebook. I have to wake up at 6, less than 4 hours, to make changes to fantasy linup. then dribve to home to buy old stuff at an auction.

Jana? But the important question is...does she remember me?

didnt ask, didnt care

for some reason she started texting me again radonmly, i hadnt talked to her since janurary and now she wants to hang out again. chicks are weird. but we had fun, and we'll probbably do stuff some more in future. but i really don't thinkg we willl be ever more than just friends, which is ok.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

That's it?
Yes - because even the yanks fail at driving in runs against an overmatched twins team. It's not quite as epic a bricking as it is when the twins are at bat, but it's still noticeable (i.e. what happened in the 9th with runners on the corners and 1 out).

Good luck against the Angels. Not that your team will need it. :p

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

The ump only missed that call by a foot, that ain't bad;) . Still, bases loaded, no outs, thats a brick job

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Haven't read through this thread but 17 runners LOB? Can't hang this one solely on the bullpen.

The fact MN had to bring Ron Davis Mijares into the game speaks for itself. No matter how many MN scored in the twelfth the Yanks would have scored one more.

It was bad, but really Delmon was the only chance of scoring. He hit it hard. Not sure why Gardy let Gomez bat with one out bases loaded. He HAS to let Morales or Redmond bat. Then he gets to bring Kubel into the game and remove the DH, which is always fun.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

The Twins have fought hard but at some point this store-bought $200 million monstrosity was going to step it up and stop choking every year. This appears to be the year. :(

I just HATE new york so much. tons of people respect the Twins because we play baseball the right way. People love that, and there are a lot of people who would love to see us upset new york, but I feel like any momentum we had now is crushed after last night. If we win last night, we have a pretty good shot at winning this series playing in Minnesota the next two games. It's a shame that we had to leave SEVENTEEN men on base, and that we couldn't even catch a break(Mauer's foul ball call...)

Did anyone think the Twins weren't agressive enough with Mauer on that second single?

**** YOU NEW YORK.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

This doesn't help, Tolbert on the DL and Busher activated. I assume Harris will play at 3rd for the last game ;) of the season.

*blink*

You realize you're talking about mostly multi-millionaires here, not some high school teams, right?

I'll be at game 3, especially the way ticket prices dropped from yesterday to today. Is it that hard to just root for your team and not really care who they're playing against?

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Has there been any comment by that ump or MLB or anyone with regards to that fair ball call fouled? I saw it on the news this morning and was like "Um, how could he have made such a mistake like that???"

And while a good portion of you are upset and bummed and whatever, at least you had 17 runners LOB. The Red Sox offense needs an Amber Alert. :o

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Screw respect. I want to play the way that gets us past the first round.

tPOV wins the thread...

Scarlet, I believe Tim Tchida the crew chief said it was a missed call and a mistake. That may be because he is from St. Paul and went to Cretin like Baby Jesus did though ;)

I'm guessing Cuddyer would have went to RF, Span to CF, Harris to 1B, Punto to 3B and Cassilla to 2B.

Yeah, the umps said they messed up. Still doesn't change the 17 stranded baserunners or not scoring with the bases juiced (like ARod) and no outs.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

I'm glad I wasn't around the Intertubes last night [and most of today] Absolutely crushing defeat. That game sucked me in hard, emotionally. I realize all the reasons they should not have won that game, but it doesn't change the fact they COULD have.

I had 2 beers, but the game hurt so much I woke up feeling like I drank an 18 pack. That physically painful of a loss to me :o

Should I care that much about something to which I have no control? The answer is, "no," but I'm invested nonetheless. (I had a nice little spat with the wife on that topic after that incident in the bottom of the 9th.) After all, I will be "all-in" again on Sunday night. And [hopefully] again after that.

That's because the yanks finally started spending their money on players that aren't mediocre (Swisher, Sabathia, et al).

No, the crackdown on performance enhancing drugs hurt the Yankees more than other teams. Apparently it is harder to win when all of your roided up ogres have to lay off the juice.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Their only player that took a nosedive after that was Giambi (I think). A-roid's production was lower this season due to coming back a month into the season after hip surgery... and he still produced quite well for them.

The main problem of their roster in recent years was the fact they overspent on mediocre to bad pitchers, IMHO.
