Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

I just saw a commercial with Tim McCarver in it, and after the conversation about bad play-by-play guys, I realized that there is no one I'd rather listen to cover a game than Tim McCarver. He is awesome.

I usually really really like Dick & Bert, but they have been getting a bit too much in the homerism department lately. I still believe that they are better than many of the other teams throughout the bigs though.

When even Cabrera says that it is what you should expect in a division race, you should probably back off.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

If you think Dick and Bert are bad, listen to the retards who do the Astros games.

Oh, good grief, you can't possibly blow this. Not in your own house.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

who is this pitcher??? He F-n SUCKS!!!!!

Mijares or Guerrier?
They've actually been pretty good most of the year.
Looks like it'll be up to Nathan.

The fact they even need to bring in twitchy just amazes me.

Gardy is gonna pour himself a scotch after that game. His reaction in the dugout after the last out was great.

It isn't great, but that's what the Royals have done the past month.
At this point in the season, a win is a win.

I have 4 tickets to the game Sunday, Shirtless Guy and I are going, and I'm still looking for 2 more...someone around here must want to go, its not like the Vikes are on (Brent, I'm not talking to you:p )

G.A. tickets? I may need a couple more...Ha Ha...

The Strib put together their list of the top 10 metrodome moments, not many surprises:

3. Welcome home party after the Twins won the American League pennant over Detroit in 1987. 50,000 fans showed up. - present

6. Kent Hrbek hits a grand slam in game 6 of the 1987 World Series. - present

10. Strong straight line winds tear a hole in the roof during a game in 1986, causing players and fans to flee for the exits. - present

 He made the '91 series nearly unberable to listen to.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

Our last Metrodome game tonight [unless, you-know-what]. We had to leave early* when the Twins were up 10-2. Glad we left when we did *** I didn't want that semi-collapse to be my last memory.

Watched the rest of the game on TV and was glad I was home to have the TUMS handy. A win is a win, though, and the Tigers laid an egg earlier, so that is good!

The Delmon slam was awesome. I know I can't prove it to you all, but I did make that call that to my wife. Something along the lines of hitting the same shot he did in the first inning on Wednesday. Not quite the same direction of the line drive Granderson misplayed, but good enough under the Teflon sky, eh :D  :)

Beyond that, I have an addition to the all time list of Metrodome moments--one in which I was present: a Nick Punto grand slam. It happened, look it up ;) :) Some random Thursday afternoon where my friend's son sang the nation anthem with his YMCA youth group, or I wouldn't have been there. I think it was against the Devil Rays when they were still called that.

A Punto slam and a Delmon slam! Oh, and Winfield's 3,000 hit for some reason--that was pretty cool :D

*I’m not one to usually leave any sporting event until it is over. However, my wife gets up a 4:30 AM every morning, and I have to leave St. Paul at 5:00 AM Saturday for a day trip to the south. 9:00 PM was the agreed upon limit. ****, I wish I was young again. (And yes, I'm still awake and need to go to bed, but Center Ice on Comcast also unlocks MLB Extra Innings for a few days--this Rockies/Dodgers story is pretty good in the NL.) As we're leaving, I am taking solice in the fact that if the Royals did find a way back in the game [which they kind of did], then that won't be my last Metrodome memory. Another good call ;) :D :)

Go Twins!

Yeah, 2 general admission tickets. I paid $30 per ticket per fees, but I'd probably take less, if the other people that are interested don't take them.

Really? I was too young to have many memories of the '91 series, I only remember the highlights, and the fact that my parents let me stay up past my bedtime to watch games 6 and 7. I've heard him in recent years and really liked what he's done, maybe it is just personal preference.
