A bit more breathing room there.

I miss the old Lariano. Me thinks he'll never be quite the same

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

Too bad Bill Smith still can't wrap his head around the concept of innings caps.

That's not the issue, but that the TJ surgery sapped the bite of his slider.

Overuse wasn't what caused the surgery, but Liriano's inability to throw through pain. The doctor didn't even want to do TJ because he didn't see the need.

For the record: Kent Hrbek remains the undisputed heavyweight champion of all star first base wrestling.

The loved-now really hate relationship with Skippy Knoblauch continues, he probably would have been here this weekend but he couldn't make bail and the dome wouldn't promise to stop selling hot dogs. :)

EDIT: Hrbek is awesome!

Love they will have the two fat guys beyond centerfield at Target Field.

I welled up a bit with the Kirby tribute. Otherwise the rest of it was pretty good fun.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

Don't read into this comment more than I intend...but does Delmon Young's swing look a little like Kirby Puckett?
Maybe more so of late when he directs it at the path of an oncoming baseball. Jose Mijares seems to have inspired Demtri's little bro in a way that the Twins coaching staff never could.

As to why Gardy pulled Dunsing, I think he figured that with the lead bumped back up, he'd be able to somehow get 6 more outs from Guerrier and Nathan if KC came back again, and by pulling Dunsing after an inning, he's available as a long man if needed on Tuesday. He probably remembers all too well what happened the last time Scott Baker started a huge game against Detroit in the Dome.

If another rookie pitcher shuts us down in game #163, that would be most cruel after all of this. Because now they've managed to suck every last one of us back in.

"Minnesota is starting to run up against the calendar, as well. To get to 86-76, for example, Detroit needs to go 17-15 the rest of the way. Minnesota needs to go 21-11. There's not a lot of teams that play .677 baseball down the stretch, especially after going .500 the first 120 games or so."

Hammer's posts bulletin board material for the Twins? ;)

[Hammer], [Hammer]...you doubted us, but look at us now. Look at us now.

Has anyone been able to get tickets for Tuesday? I've been trying to call and went online but have had zero luck.

We're home from the game, and it was awesome. The game was great and the postgame ceremony was really cool.

We tried to get tickets at the ticket office after the ceremony, well, shirtless guy did because I absolutely can't leave work early that day, and the best available were 20th row, upper deck behind the Twins bullpen. The entire lower bowl was already sold out, there were some $8 cheap seats tickets available.
