Agreed, when goalies get involve its has the potential to push the situation over the top. I know the team was down 6 on 4 but outside of Chara and Guastad the pile wasnt going to boil over. Miller was given a 2 minute minor for leaving the crease. Miller did drop the gloves, but was not given a fighting/roughing penalty.

And if he hits a guy with his blocker, that's a penalty too. Darned if you do, darned if you don't. You think Rask wouldn't be in the middle of things if it happened in the Bruins end of the ice in a similar situation?

Oh, and all I can say about the 1st round is that Joe Pavelski has all but ensured that this is Patrick Marleau's last season in teal. Marleau apparently needs to go to Florida, Atlanta, Dallas, or some other team that isn't likely to play meaningful games in April. What a lazy SOB since the Olympics. He's been upgraded to missing the freaking net on breakaways now.

That's the point, he should not be involved in scrums. He just needs to skate away. I understand they were outnumbered 6-4, but maybe they should think about that before chopping Chara on the leg.

And yeah, Rask may well have been involved in things, I still wouldn't find it acceptable. Just like in the last game of the regular season when Thomas started wailing on a Capitals player. There's no need for that.

If they truly want the hits from behind out of the game, the NHL would a) treat all violators severely and b) the same regardless of how bad the hit was or what their prior record is.

I know that was a crappy strawman I threw out there but when it's late in a game like that and there's a mess of a fracas... I completely understand a goalie getting in the middle of things, although granted not usually to that degree.

Two thoughts:

I've said this before but I love the CBC commercials during HNIC. I want Houghton to have a "The Keg" Steakhouse, someone from Henault et Gosselin to fix my foundation and restore the rightful value of my home and that I could open a Scotiabank "Getting There" account and get a Stanley Cup Savings Tin.

Two: GRRRRRREAT SAVE LUONGO!!! God, I love watching Jim Hughson-called games.

GLM, I know you like your wheel of justice, but yet again the Down Goes Brown flowchart fits the situation. Especially the post season one.

Daniel Sedin probably just ended LA's season.

So much for my Western Conference upset pick.

Oh well.

Everybody do the Sedin Dance!

You all owe Rob Blake a debt of thanks.

At the same time it was considering all the changes that have made the post-lockout game so entertaining, it came within a Rob Blake vote on the competition committee of going to 4-on-4 in overtime. (His vote was the deciding one and he decided against it.)

I suggest you pay your debt by suggesting to your teams that they choke vs. the Sharks.
