To be fair, he never specified 9/11/01. It could have been an entirely different tower that was hit and collapsed on 9/11/05 or something. Maybe a radio tower?

Am I going to click the link and have a severely unpleasant image seared into my brain?

NYT this morning: "debt brinksmanship"

More like Republicans throwing a fit in the cereal aisle because Mommy isn't buying the Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs, but do go on...

Ignore the gruesome Politico headline and read. This woman is great.

Oh my god. She gets it.

this paragraph alone:
[Weâ??re] becoming increasingly disenfranchised from the technology we rely on, being pointed more and more towards a permanent class of renters and not ownership

Holy moly

We’ve turned environmentalism into another brand of consumerism. Go buy a Tesla, you’re an environmentalist. I think being an environmentalist is being able to fix your own shit, like stopping an oil leak from going in the river, getting 500,000 miles out of your Honda Civic. The middle class has kind of been made to feel like [environmentalism is] a luxury good. That if you’re wealthy, you can have good air quality, and you can afford to breastfeed your baby instead of using formula.

In the end Republicans and Democrats will unite to increase the debt ceiling because the corporate paymasters who fund both parties like to make money and the government defaulting on the debt would be bad for business. Sure, use the crisis to grandstand and wring as much dough from the poors as possible, but do not cost Corporate America a dime! See you in two years when you're up for reelection.

CNBC had an interesting take on that, in a fight between Democrats, pragmatic Republicans (but really, are there?), and the Freedom Caucus, what room do the Dems and Republicans who just want to carry on have to give up? There's nothing they can really trim from that would make the impact the far right wants. It's showmanship from the loonies.

Meanwhile, if the far right don't get their way, they can have merely a single representative call for McCarthy's seat thanks to the rules he accepted.

My summary: McCarthy got in the bathtub with the crazies, he can find his own way out.

If Congressional Republicans want to cut spending, they could start by not initiating frivolous investigations into unelected private citizens over political reasons.

I'm not saying, I’m just saying…Hunter Biden.

This.

And that is why the Dems should say "you get nothing."

The gambit is to go after Social Security and Medicare. Always has been, always will be. Those ****ers are still ****ed about FDR.

They're still mad about the Nullification Crisis. These bozos have been trying to sabotage our democracy for, literally, 200 years. They are authoritarians. We should never have restored the right to vote to them after their rebellion, we should have deported them all back to Ulster.
