I often wonder whether these people have anyone who loves them. Strom Thurmond served ten years past the point where he was entirely senile. Who allows the party to keep wheeling them out there? Maybe that's indicative of what sort of reptile serves forever.

I don't think so, having been inside the Beltway crowd for 20 years, now.

Pols are exactly like the rest of us. Exactly. They are no more or less arrogant or greedy or deceitful. But people are their environment, and the environment of DC warps just like that of NYC or Silicon Valley or Derpistan. The social geography shapes the biography.
