Schiff is officially running for CA Senate now, so it'll be Schiff v Porter for the primary.

There is no classic primary in California. The general election will be the top two vote getters in that primary, regardless of party affiliation. So the general election may very well be Porter v Schiff.

I think French lives in California, so if he somehow doesn’t know that information, he hides his ignorance well with humor…as for Schiff versus Porter in a general, I’d love that matchup, as well as the aforementioned potential Lee vs. Porter.

Another sign of how shitty I feel is that I completely forgot he is from CA. Sorry.

Goddammit I completely forgot about that. OK, my point still stands, it will eventually come down to the two of them, and both are good candidates, it's unfortunate we can only have one. Most likely. Sometimes the GOP unites behind one person and they manage to slip into the second spot, though that seems to happen in the governors race but not in the Senate race.

"From" VA, but have lived in CA for the last 15+ years and for the foreseeable future and then some, at least given what I paid for this house.

Guesses:

Palo Alto - probably
Mountain View - maybe
Atherton - I hope not
Milpitas - oh god, I hope so

I assume Daly City is right out.

So even if the Ds perfectly split the D votes and the GOP perfectly unites their votes, we still have one D no matter what, right?

Oh yeah it'll never be 0 Ds. Just not a given it'll be two Ds. Governor's races both had Gavin as a given so no other D got much, so an R slipped in as #2. Though the last Feinstein race had 2 Ds, probably because no R really tried so the younger D got some votes. Given this is a more open race, I could see both Ds making it through, it depends which if any big name Rs actually try.
