Got it.

I think of:

highly educated: med school, PhD, tier 1 BA
educated: business, engineering, or law degree, other BA
undereducated: no BA
uneducated: no HS diploma
Once I stopped chuckling I thought of this movie
- Sam: Why is it what you just said strikes me as a massive rationalization?
- Michael: Don't knock rationalization; where would we be without it? I don't know anyone who could get through the day without two or three juicy rationalizations. They're more important than sex.

"Flyover fatty?"

Midwestern women are STRONG and can pick Kep up like a used Kleenex and toss him aside. He'd probably like that, though.

The one that got me was putting MDs up there with PhDs and ahead of JDs. I know just as many dumbass doctors as attorneys, at least as a proportion of the profession. The only reason lawyers seem to outnumber them is 1) ambulance chasers advertise the most, and 2) there are simply more law schools than med schools because law schools are money makers for universities and the ABA faced anti trust litigation for its old quota system while the AMA still has theirs

Based on experience... doubtful.

I wish you the best out there, Amber. Just know there are swaths of this country where the gen pop welcomes and respects you. If you stay among the swine, you have to deal with their poop.

"All you people should move to your own island!

We did. You're standing on it.
"

This little patch of grass I'm sitting on is improving. Holland (yes, Holland) elected a D mayor and has a D majority City Council. You probably know we added sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression to the city's non-discrimination ordinance. Downtown Grand Rapids is welcoming and the trans flag and the BLM flag on the United Methodist Church reminds me I'm home.

My attitude is this: I could always move. But $33 in my account right now means I'm not getting further than Ohio in my car. Eww.

Part of social work, advocacy, and activism means planting seeds and making things beautiful where things once were ugly. As Rage once said... "it has to start somewhere. It has to start sometime. What better place than here? What better time than now?"

Plenty of the dumb jocks in high school went on to med school. I know far more dumb doctors than dumb lawyers or dumb engineers.

Thank you Tim Ryan of Ohio.

“Heaven forbid we pass something that’s going to help the damn workers in the United States of America! Heaven forbid we tilt the balance that has been going in the wrong direction for 50 years!” Ryan shouted from a lectern on the House floor on Tuesday. “Now, stop talking about Dr. Seuss, and start working with us on behalf of the American workers.”

Ironic that the size of the Covid Relief Bill is the same size as the Dump Tax Giveaway to Jeff Bezos. Just imagine if we had saved that money for a rainy day. Cause it's raining outside now.

Add Roy Blunt (R-Mo) to the list of retiring Senators.

So, let’s say disgraced former Gov. Eric Greitens runs for the GOP, and wins the nod. That would be an opening like Democrats had in the Kansas Gov. race against Kobach in 2018. Granted, there are a number of potentially strong GOP candidates who could jump in at any point, but with a divided field, only a plurality required to win...anything could happen.

One thing I love about working from home is getting to watch Congress on days like this. I guess that makes me a huge geek.

Sens. John Kennedy (R-La.) and John Thune (R-S.D.) and fellow lawmakers today reintroduced the Death Tax Repeal Act of 2021 to permanently repeal the federal estate tax, commonly known as the "death tax." The Death Tax Repeal Act would finally end a punitive tax that has the potential to hit family-run farms, ranches and businesses upon the owner's death.

They never stop. Sorry Redumblicans. We're going to tax rich people more. NOT LESS.
