Remember in the second Matrix movie when they spent the entire movie showing you the one guy who was negiotiating with the machines to betray the humans, and then in the big attack at the end they say it looked like someone helped the machines during the battle, and then at the very end there's a big dramatic reveal that it was the same guy who betrayed them, like they wanted it to be some big twist but literally everyone knew that was what happened well ahead of time.

For some reason this made me think of it.
 
It's very brave of her to leave the majority party and any chance he has of getting good committee assignments.

Oh wait she's still going to caucus with them to hold on to stuff? Awww, sooooo brave.

This isn't 4D chess, this is her being too big for her britches. The smart move would have been going GOP to completely screw up the Senate and have a party machine to run behind her in her next election. As an Independent she will likely get a small percentage of the vote and half (if not more) of them wouldn't vote Dem anyways. The corporate types will tacitly support her but still give way more money to the GOP meaning she will struggle to even run a campaign.

I think you all are way overthinking it. She doesn't have enough name recognition to do what you are worried about. That will likely be the narrative by CNN and MSNBC leading up to that election and they will do their usual backtrack when it never happens.

We think that is HER plan, not that we think it will work. At least that’s how I look at it

she’s not that smart, she just wants to be center of attention
 
Insofar as she has any plan it's to mimic the John McCain maverick routine. This is more of that.

She knew she was dead; she had to do something. This is her play. I can't imagine it working. McCain at least had a patina of honor. Sinema is Tulsi with better skin.

The thing that pisses me off is she started out in politics as a progressive Democrat. And somewhere, someone sold her on plutocracy. She's been worthless ever since.
 
I think she has a pretty good chance to win her seat as an independent. The state GOP is completely fucking insane in AZ and there's seemingly no end in sight to that. So they will nominate another Lake/Masters loon. The Dems will nominate someone generally capable and sane. And it will be a three-way race between Democrats, insanoids and non-insanoid republicans who haven't come to grips with reality, and what is likely a huge middle ground of people who find Kari Lake to be batshit but buy into the whole "creeping socialism" nonsense and won't pull the lever for a Democrat.

The GQP has a pretty baked-in Trumpy base, even if you subtract the non-insanoids with a non-D alternative. Is it enough to win? Underestimate the cretins at our collective peril.

Oh I don't doubt she thinks she can do it...she also probably thinks she is the hero of this story. I doubt her staffers even think she is viable ;^)

She would need the students to vote for her to even have a shot...they aren't voting for her they hate her at this point.

The middle ground isnt voting for an independent because that independent won't get anything done. If the Dems put up someone capable Maricopa and Pima vote blue and she drags the GOP down with her. She has no cred even the Centrists know she is bought and paid for. She lost the Environmentalists and the Students with her antics since 2020 and the GOPers there aren't voting for a bisexual female no matter how much less loony she may be than whatever Andy Biggs clone they run.

AZ is not trending the way she thought they were...

My reading is that was just her way in. She never had any beliefs other than narcissism. She's a less effeminate Mitch McConnell. She will do anything for personal enrichment.

I don't think she has any chance as an Indy. The Dumpy stooges who lost this cycle all got 49% -- there is no bar low enough that AZ Republican voters won't crawl under it. And every AZ Dem hates her. She has zero traction. The only way she gets enough signatures is one side calculates she'll hurt the other and astro-turfs her in.

She really is a perfect analog to Tulsi in Hawaii. The Independent shtick is her getting ready to do some sort of social media / think tank / pundit / book tour grift.

She has no chance of winning, but she has a great chance to win 1-2% in a state where elections are decided by that amount.
