I heard Senator Hirono interviewed about it on CNN...she was not mincing words in how she felt about their actions.

Mazie is awesome. When Dr. Mrs. worked for Senator Akaka she got to talk with her a lot. She has even less of a filter in private. :-)

As someone who lived in Germany and understands a lot of the dynamics....I agree, it reeks of the stasi.
they also don’t want another nazi party coming to power. It’s a fine line .

maybe it’s time for me to rewatch The Lives Of Others

Not if they deserve it.

Honestly, Nazis depend on liberals bending over for them. But Nazis have no intention of abiding by liberal norms or even laws.

So no, Nazis are an exception. They earned their surveillance. Want not to be surveilled? Don't attempt to overthrow democracy.

"The Constitution is not a suicide pact." These f-cks exempted themselves from ordinary civil liberty protections when they told us what they were.

Interestingly, Die Linke (the successor of the old SED that ran East Germany) was placed under surveillance from the same agency back in the 2000s.

(And honestly probably still should be considering their views on Russia)
