So, wait, Nazi Turtle is filibustering the conference assignment, takeover?

So, basically he is going to do that for everything then. He's going to turn Biden's Presidency into Obama 2. Then the Dems will change the filibuster if they can. And then the Nazi's will take back the Senate and blame everything they do on Democrats not following the rules.

Someone needs to find a way to break the pattern.

Exactly. This is Merrick Garland again. This is Mitch saying he doesn't give a sh-t about the election results, his job is to protect the 1% even if every single one of the 99% dies.

What part of "Nazi" do people not understand? I don't use the term loosely. These people have told us exactly who they are. They are not to be engaged with except by rolling over them with every legal means we have. There is no small 'd' democratic opposition left our country. We have Democrats on one side and authoritarians on the other.

We need to end the Right.

Yes. It is Merrick Garland all over again. You know, we really suck at being in the majority and the minority. Somebody needs to figure this shit out.

The Senators like Manchin who are edgy about killing the filibuster are nervous because they have lots of Nazis in their states. Those states are full of Nazi propaganda about what happens if Democrats actually get to pass their agenda -- you know, horrific stuff like health care, unemployment extension, debt forgiveness -- really out there scary stuff.

At the same time, Schumer knows we will get nothing done with the filibuster still in place because of the legislative terrorism of the Right. Mitch will destroy the country rather than give up an inch of power or lessen the profits of those who bribe him. The filibuster has to go.

So Manchin has his nuts in a vise. He has to pander to his state's Nazis, but he is useless to the Dems (and the country) if he does. Manchin needs an out. He needs an excuse so he can say, "I'm shocked that the Republicans care more about their power than the country!" And Mitch's overreach gives him that out.

That is why either this is a blunder by Mitch or it indicates that Manchin has all but officially switched to the Nazis to save his sorry wrinkled old behind.

Maybe. But I think that Schumer understands that even if it's 50/50 and there is no filibuster, it's not like he can just plow forward with whatever agenda the left wants completed. That's your thinking. Being a majority leader is like herding cats, and he's got a lot of different cats in his caucus.

Turtle Nazi never has an issue swinging his dick around.

As usual you're getting the logic backwards. The point is your tender feewies and iron age agenda are protected by the 50/50 split already. We won't get anything done that the most reactionary, backward, rural, brainless Dem Senator does not agree to. So you don't have to worry -- the Hyde Amendment will still murder people. You should be happy.

What Mitch is doing is saying not Manchin but HE must agree to everything that passes. And that's just not how a minority works. He doesn't get to make that call. Mitch is holding the whole US hostage to the entitled, clueless, evil f-cktards who bribe him. That's why we have to nuke him and his terrorists.

Y'all did this to yourselves. So, do what you do best: win back the Senate while losing the net vote by 10 million. If you ever get the House Mitch will end the filibuster in an instant.

We know what you are. Even our Centrists know now.

The Republicans controlled the House and the Senate just four years ago. I don't remember the filibuster getting nuked. You really need to back off on that early afternoon happy hour.

Look, don't get angry at me. I wasn't the one convincing you that a 50/50 split in the Senate and a five or six vote majority in the House was going to give you carte blanche to pass whatever dream agenda seeped into your mind. You convinced yourself of that.

You guys had something like 58-42 in the Senate and 250+ seats in the House when Obama took over and you weren't able to push anything more through than a crappy health insurance bill.

Honestly, it was my intention to wait a few weeks before the inevitable bubble popping that I was going to have to do, just so everyone here could enjoy the well-earned win, but jeebus.

Nobody has ever thought that. It's your idee fixe.

The thing that is happening here is the Republican party has no commitment to democratic governance. Your side has lost all credibility -- it supported an insurrection to topple a 240-year old democracy. So you can keep acting as though you are a good faith actor but we know you aren't.

Your act doesn't work anymore, like Ted and Rand and Mitch's doesn't. Now I will grant I had my suspicions all along, but even the Buttigiegs and the Bidens get your rope-a-dope thing now. You're done. You no longer factor in discussions about a democratic nation.

Who the hell is saying Democrats had carte blanche? Maybe someone will volunteer they said that? Otherwise, what a poor strawman. You can do better. Keep trying.

Problem being I don't think Schumer has the balls to do anything...

It's not "balls." Schumer's issue has never been intestinal fortitude, it's about managing our caucus.

And he still has plenty of restrictions. He can't just announce he's whipping every vote because the leverage is all on the side of the defector. Senators are politicians -- they use their power to maximize their gain. Some Senators will use that to literally maximize their personal gain. Those are easy; grift is easy and inexpensive. Mitch has personally stolen, what, a hundred mil during his career? That's nothing.

Some use it to extend their term of office which means either pork or favors to slice up a primary challenger. That's one of the ways the Center holds off the Left in the Democratic party -- I will vote x if the DSCC backs me and blackballs my primary challenger. The GOP used to have this system run to perfection until the Tea Party and then Dump got outside it and all hell broke loose. It's why we need to bring back earmarks, in fact.

Schumer is good at his job. He's not as good as Pelosi, but he's better than Reid. Even though he's bought and paid for by Wall Street he still has the ability to work behind the scenes with the Left on issues not touching Finance. The sniping is all part of the show, it means nothing.

I can see Schumer doing a pretty good job herding the cats. It's not like anybody else is in a position to do better. I mean, who? Amy? Amy still wants to be President. The others are all a thousand years old.

Yeah, I actually think Schumer is excellent at his job. I think keeping the minority unified is likely easier than a majority, especially against the great unifier known as Trump, but I think Schumer is up for it. I don’t see Manchin switching parties, so I think McConnell is just trolling Democrats, which, I’ll post* my shocked face later.

It's a message board. What, I don't ever get to use hyperbole, but everyone else does?

Biden, Pelosi and Schumer have not come out and said that the "big ticket" items the left is in love with are in the works and are going to be passed. In fact, Biden has probably done more to tamp down expectations than build them up.

But, let's be clear. There have been a plethora of posts on this board over the past six months plus about "these are the things that have to be done" when Biden wins and if the D's take the Senate (which they did). Everything from Puerto Rico as a state to packing the court to the green new deal to killing the Electoral college to student loan forgiveness to medicare for all...... I'm not going to try to list them all because I'd only wake up in the middle of the night and remember 10 I didn't list.

I knew, and know, that these things aren't going to come to pass, certainly not in the next couple of years, if who knows when. Biden will probably get some sort of Covid package, an infrastructure bill, and a few other items, but after that he is going to think he's Sisyphus, and wonder why he's being punished.

Only YOU knew the last paragraph, huh? Hmmm, I wonder if budget reconciliation, something that is also repeatedly discussed on here, covers some of those things you listed? Just because we state our liberal wishlists on a message board- hyperbole, some may say- doesn’t mean any of us expect them to happen in a 50/50, or even 53/47 D Senate. You’re not the only one who understands how the government works at a basic level, you arrogant a—hole. I’ll gladly take three Democratic budget reconciliation bills, with Joe Manchin’s input, over the 2017 Tax Bill-Helps-Hovey’s-Type. The ACA managed to withstand the same GOP trifecta, so it wasn’t that terrible, apparently.

Cruz should stop tweeting. AOC destroys him every time. He leaves himself wide open with his inane shtick. It's easy to puncture these do-uches. They have to stick to Fox and radio where their allies control the conversation.

Conservatives can only win in the marketplace of ideas when they own it.

He'll give some inane reply, his fans will (erroneously) eat it up as him dunking on AOC, and we're right back where we started.
