KS-Sen may be in play.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has reportedly shot down Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) hopes of bringing him into the majority fold.

According to a New York Times report Monday evening, Pompeo told McConnell that he has no plans to run for Senate this year, four people briefed on the meeting told the Times.

Although he quietly mulled a Senate campaign for months, Pompeo told senior party officials that he is ruling out a Senate campaign launch in light of the President Trump-authorized strike that killed top Iranian military official Qasem Soleimani last week, several people who directly spoke to the secretary of state told the Times.

Despite how the filing deadline for the primary isn’t until June, administration officials told the Times that Pompeo appeared adamant about refusing to enter the race.

That leaves the nomination to Kobach who may be just poisonous enough for the good people of KS to reject him if we run some super-duper-pro-life-gun-toting blue dog for the Dems.

Which, there a pocket of Dems (or would be Dems) who think this way that need to be embraced. Because it fits the Dem brand.

Trans/Gay? We don't care, but they're equal to us!
Sick/Healthy? We don't care, but let's make sure everyone is covered if they do get sick.
Pro-life/Pro-choice? Who gives a sh**. Let's get a certified doctor provide you with healthy options. No back alley metal coat hangers here!
Guns? Hell yeah, but let's be safe and reasonable about it.


Unfortunately, all this is too big for a bumper sticker. So the MAGA idiots don't understand. Well, there is the Coexist sticker, but *everyone* mocks that one.

We need them in the red states. In the blue states I want to see Latina vegan trans lesbian communist atheists.

I want a broad Democratic coalition with the common slogan "Nazis FOAD!" It fits on a bumper sticker.

I just don't know what it would take to embrace the Red State Dems better though. They do need to be better shown as an alternative to the Party of Trump.

Matt Gaetz actually voted to limit Trump's War Powers vs. Iran because he wants Congress to "actually vote for war if the soldiers have to die during them" (and probably because he knows it will get vetoed anyway)

Also has a huge number of active duty vets in his district. It was good pandering.

I don't think a Resolution can be vetoed. It isn't an Act, it's just a sense of the Congress. I could be wrong.

The Senate might actually pass this. Lee and Paul have already said they'll vote with the Dems. We need 2 more assuming Manchin doesn't shiv us. Calling Murkowski and Collins, as usual...

So if it was one of those wars where soldiers didnt have to die he would be ok with Trump being a God King?
