Re: 116th Congress - Episode 3: Impeach the Motherf**er

It’s good news but lots of Trump supporters stayed home. They’ll be there in November.

Maybe not. I know there are people that regret voting for Trump last time (they actually thought he would be different and not to "own the libs"), and that have enough of a conscience that they may not go far enough to vote Joe, but enough to vote 3rd party or stay home. My boss being one of them.

Good point. In 16, Rs turned out, in part, because they bought the HRC narrative and were angry and afraid about it. It's Biden's biggest advantage is that he is hard to be angry at or fearful of. Most of us consider that a weakness, but it is a key positive factor with that narrow group of voters who will decide this thing. Ds have that motivation to vote in Trump.

Biden will easily brush off any accusations of being a communist with a folksy grin and some grandpa anecdote about that one time in college when he punched a campus commie in the nose while wearing an onion on his belt, as was the style at the time.

The question is, can he make the right Veep and cabinet picks to convince most of Bernie's voters to get off their butts?

That would be outstanding. I wonder what changed for him? Hopefully it was his internal polling.

I say this delicately so as to not set you off, but I suspect he was waiting to see who might emerge as the nominee. Sanders or Warren at the top of the ticket might not be a good fit for him but perhaps he feels he has a better chance if its Biden. Pure speculation but the timing of the sudden change of heart is interesting.

You're an as-s even when you're trying not be an as-s, but yes I could see somebody on the fence worrying about the top of the ticket, and I could see a DINO being very worried about getting some of TEH SOCIALISM!!11! on him. :p

If Sanders wins the nomination I can imagine Manchin doing a big flounce out of the party, for example.

Well it's Montana, he could love Bernie with the strength of 1000 suns and not want to going around the state announcing it.
