# 1 in the Country - DU !

Re: # 1 in the Country - DU !

I can't believe how much that stupid McDonald's banner at the top makes me want some chicken nuggets! I gave in the other day, drove through McD's, ordered chicken nuggets with the special during-the-Vancouver-Olympics-only chili sauce, and returned home only to discover that they gave me BBQ instead. &%*$@#!

Wait...what were we talking about?

NICE!

That stuff is all hype! Tastes like some fancy Sweet-N-Sour sauce!

Miami should be discraced by there schedule this year. Its not there fault there conference sucks but they have no been challenged but maybe 2 weekends all year. That will prove to be costly come tournament time. I'd put my money on a team thats been challeged week in a week out coming into the tournament then playing that horrid schedule then trying to get up for there 1st game in the NCAA's. We saw it with notre Dame and michigan last year.

Next year, the RedHawks play PC 34 times a row!

Re: # 1 in the Country - DU !

In defense to miami there is no way to predict how good or bad some teams will be when these games are scheduled but year in and year out Miami seems to walk the line of of putting teams on the schedule that are toss ups, never national powerhouses... And with there conference, scheduling some PLAYOFF type games might prove to be a decent idea. Thats all part of evaluating and seeing where you measure up to the rest of the country instead of being the Boise St. of college hockey.

I'm curious...do you TRY to be this stupid?! Do you actually think that Miami's scheduling team hasn't tried to set up weekends with the powerhouses??? I don't have firsthand knowledge which he has contacted, but I can tell you the fans have been absolutely begging for these matchups for years. For you to say that we haven't really been tested because we haven't beaten Wisconsin is beyond asinine.

Also, WBAD, why do you assume that Miami had to be playing great hockey to beat UNH and St. Cloud (who you say were playing poorly). We played them when we played them and, regardless, we beat them.

why do you feel the need to respond to this?? those big western state schools stay home and invite cupcakes out to play in their holiday tournaments, at home, and invite in some other teams that won't require a return trip. they'll pepper in a big name and offer them a first round cupcake to hopefully meet in the finals, but otherwise they use their OOC games to generate ticket revenue and wins.

yes, that's you bucky (merrimack, ylae, ferris this year // harvard, lssu, uah last year) and the gophs.

that's their right to schedule whomever they want. but they are full of **** to came back and belittle your schedule.

you guys had jan brady come in, traveled to uhn, then went to sioux for their tourney (and took on bemidji in the first game while they played niagara). don't ever feel the need to apoligize.

Re: # 1 in the Country - DU !

In an effort to get this post back to being somewhat more civilized, can someone help me understand the RPI better? Here is where both teams are today:

1 Miami 24 1 22-4-6 .7812 1 .5891*
2 Denver 23 2 20-6-4 .7333 2 .5861*

Both teams have asterics to note that wins over weaker opponents don't reduce their RPI. Am I right, that it means that strength of schedule isn't being taken to account in these wins?

The asterisk means that both Miami & DU have wins against opponents that would lower their RPI, so those games are removed from the formula. If you want to see how every teams' Strength of Schedule stacks up check out KRACH. DU is #6, Miami is #16.

DU has been steadily gaining on Miami in the RPI in the past couple of weekends. Its possible that DU could pass Miami in RPI & PWR without the Redhawks losing a game. DU also needs Minnesota to come back from the TUC cliff and bring those 4 wins into play to help out the Pairwise.

DU has the best record in the country since New Year's Day 9-1-2.

I don't see DU passing Miami before the conference tourney time unless we loss a couple in the next two weekends. UNO and OSU are better for the numbers than Tech and Mankato.

As Priceless even mentioned in the bracketology thread, Miami could have been swept by BG and still had #1.

Oh, and 9-2-1 since New Years isn't too shabby either :D

They play in Troy, New York. Their nickname is the Engineers. Their mascot is awesome.

I'm sorry, it's been a very very long fortnight.

While that is true, UNO is closer to being a TUC than Tech or Mankato. So beating UNO twice doesn't give Miami a big enough boost. Playing BG and Western in the last month is the reason their RPI has dropped. No biggie, if Miami is #1 in the PWR or #2 in the PWR or even #3 or #4 they are going to be in Ft. Wayne and to me thats all that matters. Yes a game against RIT would be nice but if you play someone else it isn't the end of the world.

It might help if we could swap and borrow Cheverie this weekend and put him in a Gopher jersey you guys can use Kangas against Tech.
