Obama's critics and fear of the black guy sold more guns. All the claptrap from.the right about how the Marxist Kenyan Mooselimb was going to take them away. He had full control of Congress for two years. I wonder why that didn't happen...

Same reason Trump's GOP controlled House and Senate didn't build him his wall: it wasn't an issue.

You still don't get it. The NRA gives racists cover to shoot innocent minority fathers by paying members of state congress to pass SYG. Many people would be alive it weren't for the NRA.

Has no one yet mentioned that the fear mongering (often sponsored by the NRA) is likely what caused this gun owner to store a gun under the mattress? They need a loaded gun close at hand for all those times an armed individual may break into their house. If the gun were stored unloaded or locked in a gun safe, it's too late to protect oneself.

Are you sure? Do you know her situation and understand why she bought a gun? Was the family threat real or imagined?

If it were imagined, then who convinced her to buy the gun?

Nice troll. Who was it that fanned the fear of gun taking that lead to that purchase?

Obama said nothing about guns, other than frustration with Congress that they did nothing.

The NRA membership needs to take the organization over again, and get it back to what it used to be- M(NRA)GA.

Once they became a lobby for the gun makers, all hell broke loose.

Exactly my point.

And they always hide behind personal responsibility for EVERY SINGLE SHOOTING.

This is a system issue- aka a society issue- the US didn't become the most armed country in the world (by a HUGE margin) by accident. How in the world did our attitude change so much?

You’re overlooking the fact that Obama tried to strongarm congress into taking rights away from lawful gun owners.

I think that ship has sailed. NRAs behaviors have shaped its membership and a poll shows that NRA members are far more extreme than other gun owners:

did he? Do you have the legislation for that? Or is that just more NRA fear mongering?

The guy I share an office with asked me why Sharia Law was in the ACA, and I asked what he was a talking about. He came up with some "stuff"- which claimed that it was actually laid out in the law. But when I looked up the actual text of the law, none of what he claimed was there.

Which is to say, prove it. Or go away.

Not everyone needs a gun. I don't need one, therefore I don't have one. If this particular person thought they needed a gun, they should have been RESPONSIBLE enough to maintain the ownership of a gun. They did not. They should be banned from ever owning a gun.

I have never thought that everyone NEEDS a gun. I think that anyone, who is RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH TO OWN A GUN, should be able to have a gun. There's the difference.

To wt: my brother has a gun in a gun safe, by his bedside. Punch in a code, which takes seconds, pop in the clip, good to go. NO ONE knows the code (not even his fiancee) except for him.
