Utica University 2024-25 - Retooled and Reloaded

You know what's crazy, I don't even know if this is really a flex, because y'all pretty much only post in this thread so I don't know who you're actually a fan of

Do you want to tell us your fandom so we can determine your relevancy the last decade?

I played at Hobart...they are the team I "root" for.

There are a number of amazing D3 programs that I've admired over the years (Stevens Point, Middlebury, Oswego, Norwich, Plattsburgh, St. Norbert, etc.). I'm not so sure Hobart has earned the right to be mentioned in that kind of company (yet)...but they're working on it. At the least, I'd say with confidence that they are "relevant".....

- Hobart has won the last 2 NCAA D3 championships
- They are making their 10th straight NCAA tournament appearance - the longest active streak in D3 hockey.
- They've made the NCAA tournament 14 times overall...and played in the final four 5 times.
- Hobart has now won 52 straight games at the Cooler...which is an NCAA D3 record.
- There W-L-T record (to date) over the past 3 seasons is 83-5-2.

I think they are there now. The second title last year cemented being mentioned in the same conversation as those schools you listed IMHO.

Few programs have accomplished more in the last 20 years that Hobart has, including some of the schools mentioned in that group you listed.

I think Fitchburg gained a lot of new fans this week!
LOL

On a more serious note, expecting Utica to win... (Because if they don't, we could see a Kool Aid situation for all of Utica fandom.)

Let's look ahead. If indeed they play St. Norbert, home ice or not, that is not going to be an easy game. SNC may not have been as powerful as years past, but they ended the season nicely, and Coughlin always has that team playing their best when it matters most. So, all joking aside about whether Utica even makes the semifinals, there's a good chance they won't simply on the basis that is going to be one tough quarterfinal.

I was just looking up something, and I discovered that earlier this month, Potsdam beat Utica, 18-3!!!!

Well okay, it was in men's lacrosse. But still, a nice wipeout. And it did bring a larger than usual smile to my face. :)

Probably be an early afternoon start. Can do both!
I actually thought about it. But it is pushing it. Especially if there's overtime.

However, family comes first. My nephew plays lacrosse for Morrisville, and they have a game at Alfred State that afternoon. So, I'll be going from there to Hobart. (Interestingly, they are at Alfred University this Saturday, so I'll be going from there to Geneseo.)

To be fair, and I did look, but you didn't post in the Hobart thread once and spent more time and effort in here, so no one could've ever guessed that 🤷‍♂️
